i don't see much video game trolling, probably because i generally only play single player or co-op. the only one i really remember was when i was playing tf2. some guy on my team was looping this song directly through his mic. i just called a vote and had him kicked.

here's the song. i'm spoilering it because it is really racist and fairly vulgar.

i don't troll (much), but the best way to troll is probably to play CoD or Battlefield with people who have mics and ask really "noobish" questions. they get really mad really quick.

I try my best to never take anything too seriously. This is why I sometimes troll myself, and enjoy some other trolls I see/hear online, in games, etc. Not the kind that try to ruin everybody else's experience, just those looking for a good time and hoping others are willing to partake. Such as that Pee Wee Herman clip that Qitz posted. Trolling can be great fun for all with the right attitude if you're looking for a fun experience and not to ruin every one else's time.

Also, poop... See? Not too serious here.

Also, I fail to see how wanting to play the game you paid for in the way the game is meant to be played makes you a sheep.
Because not everyone wants to play the game clean cut and by the book all the time. Some people like to have fun via creativity, if that means pissing a few uptight people off so be it.

Got a game of rocket hog race where the two guys I was with were in a party, and they basically pushed me in a corner and kept firing rockets at me..... I geuss they were trolling me, but to be honest they lost more than me as one of them accidentally suicided whilst friendly fire is off.

Another time I melee'd an ally once out of frustration because he was camping to whore kills instead of helping out on the objective (before anyone asks, he had no line of sight to the objective, he was not killing anyone on around or in the objective, he was just hiding to pad his K/D in an objective type) so he decided to keep betraying me and tea bagging me. The fact that I was just standing there and letting him each time he targeted me didn't click for him until he'd betrayed me enough for the boot option to pop up...

I never really troll through gameplay, but I will occasionally dick around in the chat.

After I changed my Steam username to SuperPatBalls! I sorta convinced a TF2 server that my real name was Patricia Balls, a werepire fangirl who would give them a picture if my team won for me.

Other than that, I really haven't done a lot of trolling in online games. I like to keep things fun for everyone.

Best example I've ever seen of how trolls can make a game pretty fun.
<youtube=JUPzN7tp7bQ>
it's just a game people. have some fun.
Note: this is game trolling, playing a song over and over or just being a jerk over the mic is spamming/being a jerk.

As long as I'm not on the receiving end I love it. And if you take a game so seriously that you can't sit back and have a laugh by just doing stupid things and playing outside of the box, then you need to take a break from games.
Those two sentences seem heavily at odds with one another.

You really believe what you're saying, don't you? Sounds strange considering you said yourself that

So what's that now? You love messing up the game for others, but once the joke's on you it's suddenly not funny anymore?

Since the only online games I play are ones where text speech is the standard and there are strict controls on the game mechanics to prevent griefing... well, the trolling I see is pretty much the same as chatroom trolling... and I find it hilarious. I'll feed and critique trolls for hours if I have the time.

Am I the only one who noticed that the OP is one of the guys in the video and that this is all a clever ploy to get people to watch his video?

Things like that? Pretty shitty since their ruining other peoples game.
If someone's bothering someone else so much they can simply drop out of the game and find another. You know the same way real life works, if somebody's being offensive in a social situation you choose other people to be social with.

So I am supposed to waste the time and money I spent on a game I genuinely enjoyed, because some day, someone decided his quest in life is to ruin my fun?

No, thanks, instead I'm going to make sure they're removed.

As for your life comment...well, also no. People being offensive is not what should be the deciding factor on where I want to be and what I want to do. Where I want to be and what I want to do should be the deciding factor on where I want to be and what I want to do.

I mean drop out of the immediate game, not quit the entire game. If you are to proud to remove yourself from situations you find offensive I guess you either spend lots of time either frustrated or fighting.

More sensible, but still, it's a hassle if you don't have all day, and the hour or two you did have was ruined by some wiseguy. Then again I don't play MP much, so...it's a layman talking.

Fooling about can be fun if it's fun for everyone involved, but as soon as the fun goes at someone's expense, that's something that is akin to two wolves and a sheep democratically deciding what's for dinner.

In all honesty I agree, which is why I generally choose PC multiplayer over Xbox live if there are dedicated servers. If that options not available and somebody being aggravating its best just to drop and restart, its not the end of the world if somebody's being an asshat and its easier to shrug it off and move on.

Some people are incapable though and would rather go "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and lose it, I never saw the point of getting so worked up myself.

There's a difference between trolling and justified trolling. In your OP, you had not 1 but 2 snipers shooting from the friggen aircraft carrier...

They are not helping. They are not contributing. They are a waste of a slot and a detriment to their team. I personally applaud the team killing and trolling of moron snipers who are only looking to inflate their scores. You wanna snipe? Play Team Deathmatch (or argueably Rush.) Stay the fuck out of Conquest.

The C4 on the choppers though... that's kind of a dick move. Brilliant, but a dick move. I can understand though, it's annoying when the aircraft get sniped at the very start of the match, only to find the guy who sniped it was a moron who couldn't fly.

Yeah. I tend to be very very liberal with the grenades. Even if my team mates are in the same room that I am throwing them.

The only game I've ever been able to really troll on is Iron Brigade.(I've wanted to do it on other games, but most of the friends I would want to do it with aren't on most of the time) Usually what that entails is either posing as a newbie (they never check the leader boards) boxing the fourth guy into where they enter the game so that they can't move. That last one was particularly funny because we had three people join and quit before someone messed up the box and each one left sooner than the last.

I did, however, manage to unintentionally get one of my friends the other day on Rainbow Six Vegas 2. It was just the two of us at the moment and we were sneaking around on terrorist hunt when I shouted "There's someone behind you!" and while I was behind him he knew I meant a terrorist. He dismissed it as me joking around (which I do a lot) at which point I heard someone climbing up the rope behind me and turned just in time to watch a terrorist blast my face out the back of my head. At this point my friend has killed the guy who killed me and is freaking out, which is not helped by me getting on him by saying things like "I told you!" and "This is what happens when you don't listen to me!" He felt horrible and I felt great.

All in all, there is a very fine line between trolling in a funny way and trolling and just being a general dick.

What I do may not necessarily be trolling, but I have a hella fun time pissing off hostile sniper nests with my MAV. It's after about the third roadkill when they start to realize what I'm doing. If I'm good enough, they forget that they're supposed to be sniping and spend all their time trying to shoot me down instead.

And let me tell you, there's nothing more hilarious than distracting someone so much they end up paying attention to me when they should be looking around the next corner for the person who's about to shoot them.
