The only health warnings I've ever listened to are World of Warcraft ("Oh hey, I have been on for a couple of hours now, I should stop"), and Wii Sports/Resort.

Granted, I only started listening to those last ones after I wound up feeling like someone clamped a vice on my shoulder for a week after a couple straight hours of boxing/swordplay...

gaming warnings aren't those in the front page of the game manuel. No one reads the manuel.

(sorry was looking after my cousin and the show fairly odd parents was on can't get that line out of my head)

I always ignore them, but occasionally find it amusing to come home after forgetting to turn my PS3 off to see "You have been playing for over 8 hours, take a break" on the next MGS4 loading screen.

EDIT:

If I get really sucked in by a game I often forget to stay well-hydrated over the course of the day and, as a result of that AND constantly keeping my brain busy with the game, I tend to get monstrous headaches. Luckily I know my body enough by now to recognize the precursors to such an unpleasant episode and hastily pop a mighty painkiller into my mouth (very effective ones but take about 40 mins to kick in). At that point I usually turn off the console for an hour or two to get my head straight and maybe go out for a walk.
I'm like this as well sometimes

I played games for hours. I played until the throbbing in my eyes and head was just another function ,and soon my body adapted to it.
=]
I've never been hurt by my games. Plus I think those warnings are there for legal reason anyways, just so whenever some dumb epileptic kid plays a game and has a seizure, he can't sue the developers.
i definitly agree with you there. its all legal crap to keep parents from sueing

No, because I'm not some person who sits an inch from the TV, playing video games for 36 bloody hours straight.

Not really. Though Guild Wars did it best. Every hour of Gameplay you'd get a little message telling you to take a break or go get something to eat/drink.

I suffer from epilepsy, but I'm far from dumb...
And games don't give me seizures btw.

I just recently started to play WoW, and I really LOLed when I saw it has both a clock showing the actual time and a calendar. Useful in a sense, but I'll be damned if I ever care :p

No thanks. But maybe you could make your point without calling people dumb for something they're born with?

I hate people like you, that make me have to explain myself because they don't get it.
If an epileptic kid KNOWS a game will give a seizure, and then plays it anyways, I do indeed think that makes him one big drooling retard who had it coming. And because of those big drooling retards, game developers need to cover their asses.
Get it?
I'm not calling epileptics idiots, I'm calling idiots who happen to also be epileptic, idiots. Try not to take shit so personally, as if I'm out to get you and all other epileptic people.

I know the risks of carpal tunnel and such, and I take measures to avoid them. Beyond that, I've been reading in dim light since I was 3, and I've never had eye problems: even my optometrist said most of the crap they say about how you can blind yourself is stupid. And I don't have epilepsy, so no worries about that...

Basically, I know the risks, and some of them don't apply. I take my own measures against the rest. So no, I don't heed them: it may sound arrogant, but I know what I'm doing.

I like unobstrusive ones.

I remember Anno 1701 would occasionally have a little information icon on the side that would say "You've been playing ANNO for 2 hours" and the announcer asks "Don't you think you need a rest?"

I found that very German, and quite nice. I thought "Yes, kind man, I SHALL have a nap!" and I did, and all was well

One word: Why?

I've never had any problems before, so why should I fear just magically going into an epileptic shock as of today?

I never really have followed anything I was told to do in these little warnings. I've been gaming for a fairly long time and I'm in good health so far. I suppose its just to encourage the impressionable people to follow "healthy" gaming sessions otherwise I just don't see the point unless there was law written somewhere that it has to be printed somewhere.
