portal was easily worth the $18 that I paid for Orange box and I love TF2, Half Life 2 Is a mediocre game that passes the time between my game rentals

I played hl2 about 2/3 through, lost my save games, 4 months later replayed it and couldn't be bothered re doing it so i used a command to go to the next level.

I accidentally did the last level. oops.

i have ep 1 and 2 but i haven't played them, but don't worry because I've completed portal numerous times

Why not use crowbars? I think that the irony factor in that would make it well worth it.

Hooray, I'm one of only two people that thought it was rubbish. Clunky unintuitive combat, mute, unlikeable protagonist, gameplay so boring that no matter how hard I try I cannot bring myself to keep playing more than ten minutes.

I really didnt like FPS ever since the original pixel-doom like games, and I bought orange box for portal when it came out

HL@ while not perfect has given me alot of enjoyment and made me like FPS again, I owe it for that

I played Half-Life 2, then got addicted to the series....and pretty much every other game made by Valve....

Half-Life has almost everything, great graphics, impressive AI, great storyline and characters, and most importantly, amazing game play....

Valve, I salute you.....

OMG i have just been playing half life 2 for the first time, i have never played anything in the half life series but i bought the orange box cause i wanned portal and it cost the same as portal on its own, so i got the orange box

I have played thru portal, so i decided to play half life, and OH MY GOD.
I now know what all the hype is about.
It's amazing!
Simply beyond words...I was totally shocked by how good it is. Like, wow!

PS: sorry for bringing up half life now, after ages of it being out, but i wanned to see what people think...same experience as me (got it cause it was cheap, then never expected it to be this good) or whatever...Enjoy the poll aswell.

It's like reverse Twilight Syndrome, where millions of people claim to have read the book, but obviously haven't.

Actually OF and BS werent made by Valve but by Gearbox and Mark Laidlaw(HL writter) dismissed much of what happened during those two games. Apart from the nuking of Black Mesa and G-MAn with Col. Sheppard the rest doesnt belong to HL story.

When I first played HL2 (on my Xbox) I thought WOW how is it that everyone is drooling over Halo with something like this laying around? Then When I got it for my PC and say the way that it was meant to look, the way it was meant to be played... My breath was taken away. In my opinion of the best, if not THE best FPS's every made. I'm going to finally get the OB this weekend, and be able to own Ep1+2, TF2 and the INCREDIBLE Portal. One thing though: WHERE IS EP3!!!?!?!?!?

Meh. I bought it a couple years ago to play Garry's Mod, but boy was that engine unstable. Steam didn't help much either. Overall I thought it was decent, though I never got past Ravenholm 'cause it crashed many times there. Now I've grown to detest Steam and refuse to install it. If that means I miss out, boohoo. My loss.

Half Life is FAR more enjoyable with Invincibility turned on. Now I can actually survive big fire fights ^_^

I loved Half-Life 2 when I first played it, and loved it just as much after replaying it about 3 more times shortly after. I also loved all the mods the game helped spawn, especially Zombie Panic Source, I think I wasted more hours on that mod then Counter Strike.

I used to have the original but only for Counter-Strike, I never actually played the single player game which I now regret after being unable to find my copy of the original for quite some time now. Going to wait for the Black Mesa remake.

OK, just found half life on steam-i don't get it though. There is the original sure, and its thing (blue shift or whatever like ep 1 and 2 for half life 2), but there is also half life:source

What is half life: source?

The same game on the source engine that half life 2 and portal run on, so just a graphical upgrade? is it worth buying the source version if this is so?

I wouldn't bother with Half Life: Source, it's basically a port of the original to the Source engine, it doesn't make that much difference. But seriously, the original HL is one of those games that transcends decades, it's still a huge amount of fun to play. And there are points where it is as scary as shit to boot. Go and find it, I think it's pretty cheap on Steam, play it, and the story will start to unfold.

Oh, I see. Well, I'm very glad you liked the game. I can tell you it will be one of the classics many years from now.

It's a great game, but the first one was better.
