It's was the one ring 47 shit or something.
We just called saying we had RROD and they replaced it free, and didn't check. :D

My first one died because of excess dusk intake which caused corrosion. Never had RROD before. I do have a friend who's had RROD about 10 times though. Still on the same xbox, and it's a first wave.

If you could say overheating and power source connectivity issues, then sure. I am still on my first Xbox 360 surprisingly.

My first X-Box RROD'd about 10 months or so in. The second (allegedly) new one lasted 3 days.

Number 3 is thankfully still going strong to this day and is yet to show any signs of infection, so to speak.

I've had E74 once but my warranty wasn't up so no big deal. Just annoying to go without my 360 for a few weeks.

Well my first Xbox I bought in 2006 lasted just less then a year. It started mulching my disks. Luckily it was still in it's one year guarantee and the retailer swapped it for a new one (letting me keep my old hard drive) and giving me some free games to compensate for the chewed ones. Then that one RROD on me a few weeks ago. However Microsoft sent me a new one that seems to be much quieter and faster then the previous one.

Mine had a quarter red ring of death, so now I have a referbished one only now my power box or whatever the hell it's called. I call it the black box... the fan within it has malfunctioned and decided to break down so now it overheats rather fast and I am not shelling out 80.00 to get a new one. When I sent my Xbox in I got the no nothing idiot of Best Buy and said I had to send the Hardrive with it so I did. It payed off well though got a 120 GB hardrive instead. ^^

Bought one at release. 1 RROD two years later. No problems since replacement. Always well-ventilated.

Yup, my first 360 got RROD, after over a year. Wasn't surprised, it was one of the original xbox's released. My second one seems very sturdy and I doubt it will fail... *fingers crossed*

Yes, it had a RROD a few weeks ago, although I was able to fix it.
On your own?

And yea, a disk reading issue a few weeks ago.
Yes, all you have to do is fix the heat sync. I found directions online and it worked fine afterward.

I never read the "proper care" portion, but I have taken very good care of making sure it's been well-ventilated. My 360 has frozen a few times since I got it, but never really died.

And for the record, mine was one of the Every10Minutes.com launch lottery/sweepstakes consoles, so it was one of the first off the production line. I'm really impressed/surprised that it didn't RRoD like so many others apparently did back then.

I'm on my third 360, it was enough for me, I went to get a new one and got a PS3 as well. I now only really play my PS3, just seams to be a much better machine, im happy :)

Nope. mine's one of the new chipset, Limited Edition RE5 Elites. Apparently, the risk of it RRoDing has been significantly reduced, so I'm remaining hopeful.

I went through five 360s before I gave up on the whole system and bought a PlayStation 3.

It's really sad considering I really loved my 360(s). I remember the first day I got mine and how excited it was to experience the next generation of console gaming, how beautiful and amazing it was.

However I also remember my first 360 overheating until the side panel actually warped and melted from the heat. The second one was from a disc drive that sounded like a coffee grinder, the third and fourth were the infamous RROD and the last was an E74.

By the time it died on me the sixth time it was back to a bad DVD drive.. which MS wanted to charge me over a hundred dollars to fix (!).

Oh well, I'm happy with my PS3 and will be picking up the XBox 720 (or whatever) as long as they have some standard of making a piece of equipment that doesn't commit suicide every time you look at it.
