Farah in Prince of Persia, the Sands of Time.
I was heartbroken when she... you know...

Elana in Uncharted. She's always going to be my favourite. As a character she's very well done, and i can relate to Nate's relationship with her. But as a sidekick she's hawt, not annoying, can actually land a shot, can't die (looking at you Alyx and CIA chick from Farcry). And best of all.... She never gets kidnapped.

everyone now and then it happens, actually, its not rare for me to actually prefer the sidekicks over the so-called "heroes" .

KOTOR would have to be my pick for the sidekick category. If you were careful to upgrade them well and keep them well stocked they were amazingly competent. I also cared about them as characters so spending time on them wasn't a chore like it is in a lot of games.

The horse in Shadow of the Colossus, the girl in Ico, Companion Cube, Midna...
I won't count RPG team mates (sorry Aerith).

Alyx is one of the rare characters that I felt connected to.

Although I have to mention that the bond between the player and Agro (SotC) is amazing. It's not easy to create that connection between two human characters. But to create one between a person and an animal, without even any form of dialogue from Wander's side? That takes a lot of skill and style.

... in fact, I even liked Navi.
Apparently not for the stimulating conversation.

I loved Sparx, Spyro's sidekick. That's sparx in the original games on the PS1, not the one in the new games. My god, I just want him to die. Quietly.

Hahaaa, Despite the infinite amount of abuse i may pick up for this I actually cared for the lives of the marines in Halo 2 and 3 (Not 1, they were crashed on an occupied alien world which would eventually be blown up anyway, there was no hope...) and i actually used to get angry with my friends when they needlessly blew up my MPV Warthog with a full complement of marines....

Also in Mass effect, that decision between Ashley and Kaiden, actually the hardest decision i've ever made on a video game, also i had to reload my save about 20 times to save Wrex....

Elvis from Perfect Dark. Much less death-prone than Natalya even on Perfect Agent (probably because not all of the computers in that game were made of explodium). His head is kind of a big accidental target, moreso in DK mode, but at least he doesn't pause for a second every time before shooting. In fact, I can't remember a single time where he died to enemy gunfire, only the claws of Skedar melee.

Jonathan, on the other hand, likes to shoot explosive barrels while 10 feet away from them.
