Well, I don't see any other FPS doing a better job than CoD4 nowadays. Is it just my neighborhood WalMart that always has 200 copies of big release games, with MAYBE 15-20 people there to pick it up at midnight? Around here there's really no point to pre-order anything unless you get a bonus for doing so.

I didn't like Modern Warfare so I'm not getting this. The gameplay while intuitive and easy to pick up, got boring quickly. The story was average and everything about it was just very passable to me. I got bored halfway through the campaign so I never bothered to finish it. And before you bring up the multiplayer as being outstanding, as much as I love having my sexuality questioned by a 12 year old American, I just don't like it. Specifically the community. And the fact that the lag is horrible. Do you have a better ping than someone else? Congratulations you win. These issues may have been fixed but I don't really care. Plus Bobby Kotick is Satan.

Half-Life and Half-Life 2 did an excellent job of telling a story and keeping the player interested. I could also respond with BioShock and System Shock 2. The Darkness has an interesting story with some fun and varied gameplay. I just wish that developers would go out of their ways just a little bit to add a mechanic to an FPS that keeps it interesting, unlike, say, the whole Call of Duty series. No, I won't be buying it at all. There is a couple of reasons:
1. I really didn't like the first one. Had to force my self to finish the campaign. That's not right. I loathed the nade spamming, the spawn point based game play and the stale graphics. Though to be honest I had just finished Crysis when I played CoD4 so I couldn't deal with the mindless linearity of it all. Crysis has plenty of flaws but it allowed my to have fun in my own way and complete it as I liked (to a degree). CoD4 might as well be a rail shooter.
2. It's Activision. So yeah...

System Shock 2 isn't really from this era of games, and even now Bioshock is starting to show its age. Actually, for simplicity and avoidance of overly long titles, I'm just going to call it Modern Warfare 2; no more of this Yell of Service shit.
I'm not particularly about to complain for the price; $60 is somehow "standard" for PC games and I accept that. I also accept that by staying behind the curve by 5 or 6 months, I generally get about 3 times as good a deal as everyone else, as well as arriving AFTER the carnage of a completely disappointing game to see that maybe even I was wrong about my beliefs it would be awesome.
I really don't have anything against Infinity Ward, and I trust they know what they're doing. But I adopt a more "wait and see" approach so I can get a better deal, and avoid getting a bad sequel. I mean, even the best companies can suddenly make bad games [http://store.steampowered.com/app/500] out of nowhere.
