um good luck. the original cod 4 still sells for 50 dollars. and why wont you buy it? its going to be a very very good game unlike world at war(which was done by treyarch who likes to ruin the series every other year for stock purposes). i dont know why any fps fan wouldnt pick it up really. and by some of the responses im getting its starting to make me wonder if any of you have even gotten to max level >.> let alone tried different game modes besides the uber mindless team deathmatch. and what is so bad about the modern warfare fanbase...? why the hate people? i really would like a genuine reason ive only seen one that made sense so far...
I'm not getting it because Bobby Kottick is an asshole. That's my reason. Instead I'll go with Brutal Legend, by Doublefine because Tim needs all the help he can get.

I won't be buying it until I see it pre-owned. I won't be responsible for one of the original sales of the game. Fuck Activision.

No because I boycott any game that causes a $40 rise for all new games for the sake of greed.
what...? im confused when did the game that sold over 13m copies become so hated? and where did this hate ignite from???
Activision decided to hike up the price just because.

Anyway, no. The first Modern Warfare was terrible, generic, and not even mildly entertaining. The campaign was average at best, and the multiplayer that was held in such high regard is a horrible grind-fest. I refuse to pay for more of the same.
Alright, here's someone that's obviously trying to hate Call of Duty 4. Just because it's cool to hate popular things doesn't make CoD4 a bad game.

The campaign was generic? I don't seem to see multiple changes in environment and high-action modern warfare generic. Add to that the fact that you can shoot through walls (a feature every FPS game should have) and a story that's heaps better than most FPS (that's not saying much), and you have absolutely no right to call the game generic.

The multiplayer can't really be called a grindfest, as there's more than just Deathmatch mode. Customizable classes, perks, and incentive to unlock new weapons through leveling up make it about the freshest multiplayer experience since Perfect Dark.

If you don't like FPS games, just say so. ;)
I do NOT hate FPSes, I hate that all of them feel like exactly the same game these days. There's no hook, nothing to really pull you in and keep you interested in newer games.
Well, I don't see any other FPS doing a better job than CoD4 nowadays. It may not be the best game out there, but it's certainly the best we have to go on today.

If you're going to say "Half-Life", I respond with "Puzzles, fight, puzzles, fight, puzzles, fight".

Is it just my neighborhood WalMart that always has 200 copies of big release games, with MAYBE 15-20 people there to pick it up at midnight? Around here there's really no point to pre-order anything unless you get a bonus for doing so.

I'll be picking mine up at WalMart at midnight the same way I do all my games.

I didn't like Modern Warfare so I'm not getting this. The gameplay while intuitive and easy to pick up, got boring quickly. The story was average and everything about it was just very passable to me. I got bored halfway through the campaign so I never bothered to finish it. And before you bring up the multiplayer as being outstanding, as much as I love having my sexuality questioned by a 12 year old American, I just don't like it. Specifically the community. And the fact that the lag is horrible. Do you have a better ping than someone else? Congratulations you win. These issues may have been fixed but I don't really care. Plus Bobby Kotick is Satan.

I'll be buying stuff like Brutal Legend and Dragon Age: Origins this autumn thank you very much.

Half-Life and Half-Life 2 did an excellent job of telling a story and keeping the player interested. I could also respond with BioShock and System Shock 2. The Darkness has an interesting story with some fun and varied gameplay. I just wish that developers would go out of their ways just a little bit to add a mechanic to an FPS that keeps it interesting, unlike, say, the whole Call of Duty series. Don't get me wrong, they're okay games, but just not as fun or interesting as they should be.

No, I won't be buying it at all. There is a couple of reasons:

1. I really didn't like the first one. Had to force my self to finish the campaign. That's not right. I loathed the nade spamming, the spawn point based game play and the stale graphics. Though to be honest I had just finished Crysis when I played CoD4 so I couldn't deal with the mindless linearity of it all. Crysis has plenty of flaws but it allowed my to have fun in my own way and complete it as I liked (to a degree). CoD4 might as well be a rail shooter.

2. It's Activision. So yeah...

3. I'll be spending my limited cash on Dragon Age,Brütal Legend this year and God of War 3,Heavy Rain next year and what ever goes for cheap on the Steam Store. Indie games have given me a lot of fun lately.

Wow. Flaming started on this thread within the first four replies. Impressive (in a bad way).

OT: Yup, preordered it a couple weeks ago.

EDIT: Dang, off by one reply. First five replies and flaming started.

I've been informed they are naught but a children's toy, only capable of turning one's sight green.

I'm not buying it at all. Down with Activision!

No preorder for me. It looks interesting, and I'm considering it, but I wanna see what other people say about it first before buying.

System Shock 2 isn't really from this era of games, and even now Bioshock is starting to show its age. They're both really great games, though.

Have you played the Condemned games? If not, they'll play like a breath of fresh air for you.

I have trouble believing those are legitimate.

If I want it, I'll wait for the price to drop in a few years.

First things first: It is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, not Call of Duty 4, 2.
Now back to buisness: Yes, I have preordered CoD:MW2, luckily the price didnt jump in the US.
And I'm surprised at all the hate towards MW2. It seems that people have turned their back to IW for unknown reasons. Maybe the millions who bought the first MW werent happy, which is a shocker to me. And in conclusion I would be MAD if the prices were raised over here. End rant.
Thank you for your time.

I have.

Even before I voted, I knew everyone was going to complain about the price.

Actually, for simplicity and avoidance of overly long titles, I'm just going to call it Modern Warfare 2; no more of this Yell of Service shit.

I'm not particularly about to complain for the price; $60 is somehow "standard" for PC games and I accept that. I also accept that by staying behind the curve by 5 or 6 months, I generally get about 3 times as good a deal as everyone else, as well as arriving AFTER the carnage of a completely disappointing game to see that maybe even I was wrong about my beliefs it would be awesome.

I really don't have anything against Infinity Ward, and I trust they know what they're doing. But I adopt a more "wait and see" approach so I can get a better deal, and avoid getting a bad sequel. I mean, even the best companies can suddenly make bad games [http://store.steampowered.com/app/500] out of nowhere.
