There are all kinds of reasons somone hasnt had sex it dosnt really affect you as a person

the Idea of the "virgin" is completley outdated anyway Virginity is not somthing special or "a gift" (note how those two Only really apply if your a woman....double standard)

LOL! I was thinking this very same thing. Isn't it strange how it's a special gift for women and a determent for men? So we put the concept onto women to make them cherish and keep their virginity while we put the concept on men to loose it as soon as humanly possible...... WHY!? Why set up our children for this kind of frustrating drama but passing on two completely opposing views? Is it some kind of sadistic game?

Whether or not someone's a virgin shouldn't have any effect on how you view them as a person. Some people choose not to have sex for reasons of belief, some people want it to be special for them, some people just can't get any.

None of these give any adequate reason to look up to or look down on someone.

This is the most incredibly condescending post I have ever seen, it is implied that if they are under 19 and virgins they are just young and if they are over that then it is hard to say. The topic is simply to broad, one choice states that they are to pathetic to get any....So a 27 year old with down's syndrome can't get any because he is pathetic? or a paraplegic that hasn't lost his virginity is also a pathetic loser?

It's hard to formulate an opinion on virginity because of the hugely varied circumstances that can cause it to be the case. Someone can be a virgin for religeous reasons, victim of circumstance, hasn't found the right person, isn't ready yet, too shy, etc etc etc..

I don't see it as a bad thing if that is what you are asking, even at older ages, it's a personal choice. Someone telling me that they were a virgin would not change my opinion of them nor increase or decrease my likelyhood of having relations with them.

This is probably the biggest reason for me. I don't like to be intimate (in any form of relationship) unless I'm with someone I really trust. The problem is that there aren't a whole lot of people out there I'd trust that deeply to pursue a relationship.

Also, my religion sort of prohibits me from having a sexual relationship. I'm a very skeptical kind of person and I guess you can say my faith in religion is by far outweighed by my want of Reason. Another way to plainly say this is that I don't really believe, I'd rather know so the whole bit about me being prohibitted doesn't play much against me, trust however does.


Edit: Just to add to the conversation, what if the virgin was over 40 years old? How would your view be?

If you are young (<25ish) and waiting for someone you trust, you are very wise.

If you are 40, you are missing out on an important part of life.

As for religion... the religions with prohibitions against premarital sex also expected you to get married within a couple years of puberty, if not before. They would never dream someone could be 40 and unmarried and thus never intended that loss to your life.

Not all religions that practice prohibition of premarital sex expect one to get married within a few years of puberty. The religion that I was born into encourages marriage around the early 20s and when you have sex is completely up to you, as long as it's in wedlock.

I am a virgin for a simple reason, I just don't want to have sex, I don't really care for it, I can live without?

People have always thought I am a person who "gets some" - mainly because I get better along with women than with men. But I have never had, never though of it and most likely never will have.

Obviously this depends entirely on the person. I know a guy who's a rugged, 6"3 muscle-man who does parkour, is stupidly calm and gentle, and is the "strong silent type" and yet he's a virgin. Why? Because he wants to wait for 'the one'.

On the other hand, one of my closest friends has a picture of tits as his background for Windows and has never had sex.

There's an obvious difference here.

I'm 19 and still a virgin. I'm pretty schizo about it, sometimes I'm very frustrated about it but whenever I get into a posistion where random sex is an option i find myself really turned off. I'm pretty sure I only want to have sex with someone I want to spend time with, who cares about me too. But I think the frustration comes from not having found anyone like that yet. seriously. it fucking sucks being alone but the posistion i'm in right now financially kind of prohibits me from getting with anybody. I'm fucking broke basically and can barely look after myself. It fucking fucking sucks but honestly i'm ok with it, for now at least. there'll be time soon enough for love.

solution? go to uni and lower my standards I guess haha

In my opinion, people who do have sex, don't know what they are missing by not having any - you'd be amazed how free my life is when I don't need to "worry" over such needs.

I think you are slightly bias towards sex, I think you see it as something that must be had - for whatever reason.
I assume you are sexually active and "experienced". Tell me, could you handle spending, let say - a year, with out sex or sexual pleasuring by another person. Are you mentally strong enough to do it? I am.


Nature happens to have this habit of replacing something that you don't have, with something else.

@Archangel357: Yes you made a lot of sense in you reply to my post (seriously. And I agree that getting wife you newer had sex with is dangerous, but I was speaking about totally casual sex for fun only ). And yet woman that goes ant 'tries/has fun with' everyone... not trustworthy.

Anyway - being virgin is unpopular these days. And for "casual sex for fun"... Ugh... So cheap. Ofcourse do whatever you like - not my problem and I don't care.
