Indian style, or, I have my legs are stretched out in front of me.

It just seems very odd to have my legs apart while I'm drinking, unless it's lager or ale.

I know people who sit on one leg all the time, and it looks painful to me. I think your friend called it "feminine", OP, because a huge guy like me would break his foot by sitting on it that way.
