I use the "roll eyes and bust out the turbo button joypad" technique, button mashing... the only shit cheaper then QTEs.

Yeah, I'm that asshole at every game of mario party who played the game a ton so nobody stands a chance in hell of beating me, especially in the button mashing games. Well, at least I used to be, it's been a while since then.

Button mashing is a dying art which is probably a good thing when you consider all the dislocated thumbs/smashed controllers.

I can't say I'd stand up to some of the people here, but I've never lost a button mashing match, be it solo or in a game of Mario Party with my friends, I never lose.

I'm fucking deadly with the Fan in Smash Bros., get near me and I'll suck you in. I once racked up a full 999% on all three other players at once using that thing, it's a monster.

I'm the best button masher I've ever seen, honestly. I never take my finger off the button, I just press and lift in tiny swift movements. Very fast. I've never lost to anyone. :)

One of my earliest game addictions was Final Fantasy VIII. Doing that boost thing around once each encounter really made me pretty good at button mashing. Don't use any "techniques" though. Just spam with my thumb.

In most standard QTEs it's piss easy. It would be a complete fail on the designer's part if someone couldn't open a door due to their mashing skills being a bit underdeveloped XP

Though I swear some of the boss ones in Bayonetta are ridiculous. In every Jeanne boss fight you get to a mash buttons to counter scenario. You need to mash Y to not get your health bar ruined. You get 450 points instead of the full 500? Lol get fucked.

I don't usually get the shorter Supers to max mashing either, the animation is too quick

Oh and I hate the Hypers in UMVC3 where you can extend damage by mashing buttons. After accidentally triggering X-Factor mid-super (Every face button together triggers it so yeah don't mash everything DX) and losing the game because of it I decided to mash only A and B sort of halfheartedly.

I can't enjoy Vergil's WUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUB *click* as much with the sound of button mashing overlaying it.

on a controller, i use my thumb and stiffen my arm in such a way that it just starts vibrating really fast naturally and i can get some pretty godlike mashing speed out of it.. >.>

Fucking Mario Party, man. That shit does things to you. It does things you don't come back from. You haven't seen what I've seen, man.

Anyway, yeah, I have a lot of practice, so I'm not too bad with it. [sub][sub][sub][sub]Goddamn minecart racing won't get out of my head[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

I need to go way back to remember a time when one needed to be good at button mashing. The old Track & Field games and spinoffs are the ones I remember best.

Half the trick to button mashing, and joystick torture is in the controller. It needs to have as little movement resistance as possible. The other trick is to keep controller movement as small as possible so that it can toggle between states as fast as possible. Personally I used a flat hand above the button, stiff wrists and mostly used my arms for the movement.

Button mashing is the worst gameplay mechanic ever. It's not fun, it physically hurts and it destroys the controller.

I flip the controller over and use the base of my thumb. It works extremely well.

I got my buttom-smashing powers from a radioctive Revolver Ocelot bite.

So you can say I'm... pretty good.

If I really need to hammer a button, I do it with my index finger instead of my thumb. I can get better speed that way.

(And I've been getting a lot of practice at this lately, playing Hunted: The Demon's Forge.)

Do you use a standard controller layout?

If so, just mash R2. It's essentially L,M,H all in one button.

Oh wow R2 does that as well? I knew it was the quick Hyper/push block/dash button but cool no more accidental X-Factors for me!

I think Skullgirls helped me use the two buttons together = super thing kinda well but before in UMVC3 I was fucking up everything cuz I can't hit X and Y together and since A is the Special button and technically isn't an attack button I can't go for the easy A + X

'Twas a happy damn day when I found the quick button XD

Well I edited my button layout so A=L, X=M, Y=H and B=S.

So yeah, if I wanna use X-factor, I just press R2 and B.

Same for hypers, I just input direction and R2.

I put some cloth around my finger (like the end of my shirt) and run it over the button as fast as possible.
If that doesn't work: Forced muscle tremor. Oh yes.

I put my thumb and index finger together, then sort of rub the shit out of whatever button needs mashing.
