Poll: how you like the new escapist layout

Anyone know if there's still a 'search forums' button anywhere on the default layout?

I don't like it, its not half as professional looking in my opinion.

But a good chunk of my dislike is a new layout knee jerk. Ask me this in a week and I'll be fine with it.

I don't get why they took away the old video menu, where you just picked which series you wanted to watch at the top. Now instead, you click video and it takes you to a seperate page where you select a video. It just one more step between me and whatever I want to watch. It's a minor point, but I kinda think new layouts should make sites more convenient, not less.

This is my only real complaint as well. I could just zoom out, but then the text is too annoyingly small.

I'd grown attached to the old interface, with the changing article screen on the left side. I miss it.

I find myself missing the portion that used to be on the page that showed me the thread of the last two posts I made. I didn`t realize how much I used that particular feature until it was removed.

I quite like it. The News sections are a bit more central and much easier to find but the only thing I miss is the lack of drop down menus at the top of the screen. Made navigation to the forums and video contributors a hell of a lot easier.

Also, we have an Anime review section? Has that even been updated this year?

For people saying it takes longer to navigate to something, can you be more specific? We've streamlined various things and removed some redundancy, but certainly don't want to make it more difficult to find content.

I'm ok with it, and I think this picture sums up how I think of people who don't like it.

Haha~! I was going to say my favourite layout was the one before the previous one we had, but I can't really remember anything about it. xD

I don't have a problem with this new one, though I do kind of miss the videos down the right hand side (That, maybe that was the one I was thinking of!). In any case, clearly I don't think about this hard enough to have any issues with it. I'll get used to it in time.

Personally, I know why it might have been changed but I preferred the drop-down menus that provided direct links to the different content creators, instead of needing to sift through the "Videos" pages for each person, or being linked to the "Latest Videos" page and then needing to scroll by all of the trailers and other things to find whichever video I'm looking for.

I suppose I just don't like the organization of the Videos [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/] page, though. It doesn't seem to have any sort of method behind how the content creators are sorted. And if I want to look up older content by anyone, I'll need to make a few extra clicks because that page only links to the newest video (though that's a petty complaint even by my "first-world problems" standard, and easily something I'll get used to).

The drop-down menus themselves are much slicker though, I like that.

EDIT: After looking for "Escape to the Movies" on that other page, I found this [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/galleries] page, which satisfies my need for minimal clicks, though it has an inordinate amount of scrolling needed.

Hate it. It looks too clunky, my message box is no longer orange and I got used to hovering over the video tab to find a specific series.
And I'm not going to comment on the mess of a main page.

Well they need to clean up all that white at the top when you go to a thread.
Some are complaining that groups are hidden in a tab but its really a non issue (For me anyways)

Just fix all that white!

keep trying to find MovieBobs Escapist to the Movies latest movie review and I saw the thumbnail so when I clicked it I went nowhere. It's nice but we'll be taking some time getting used to the navigation of this site.

I don't hate the new design, but i think the old design where the videos series were all on the front page was basically perfect, in my experience anyway.

I wasn't a fan when they changed it earlier this year, but when I opened up the Escapist for the first time on Monday I thought it looked really neat. Then I found the 'Puppies' background and thought it was holy fucking awesome.
