As long as the hunter has respect for their prey, and for nature itself, I am okay with it. I don't like those that treat hunting as a sport, or those that use advanced equipment making it essentially shooting fish in a barrel. Hunting is about survival and connecting with nature, not just killing stuff.
Like White Buffelo. White Buffelo is a company that is hired by towns that do not allow hunting at all, when their deer population gets so out of control that the deer become a problem to the public(when rich people start complaining about their brand new mercedes getting repaired because they hit a deer). What the company does is:
1)hire ex snipers
2)give them high powered rifles
3)set up food so all the deer go to one spot
4)pay them to sit there at 4am blowing the deer's heads off from 50 feet away(with high powered, night vision scopes).

This happend in a highly developed town not to far from me that put an all-out ban on hunting.

So long as it's not made to be a sport then I can live with it. Though I don't agree with hunting if it's just to gain trophies, or if it's just for fun. I have never been hunting, but it seems like the kind of thing that shouldn't be thought of as fun.

Yes, that is the kind of "hunting" I frown upon.

I don't see your point. The deer was defending itself the best it could, and the hunter still lived.

He got what he deserved for being thick enough to get that close. He underestimated the deer's will to protect itself, which shows his lack of respect for nature.

Hunting's not my thing, but that doesn't mean others shouldn't hunt. I do object to indescriminate hunting, the kind that is wasteful (trophy hunting bugs me especially, unless the meat gets used too, and organ harvesting (like the bear gall-bladder or shark fin thing) drives me up the wall) or that will eventually shut itself down by overdepleting the prey population.

And I hold "tethered hunts" in complete disdain; those wankers aren't hunters so much as couch potatos breathing slightly fresher air.

I think his point was that it's a funny video.

Well that I can agree to.

Hunting for food, or as a measure to maintain an ecosystem (ie controlling numbers) is fine in my books. Although I dont agree with hunting for entertainment. Granted, some methods are more humane than others (like fox-hunting), but in my opinion it's pointless and distasteful to take pleasure in killing something else.

Exactly. And great idea representing Bob Marley as your avatar: he was before my time, but one of the greatest musicians in existence.

In truth, hunting only works if people play by the rules. Though I hear hunting by railroad (and helicopter!!) is fun too. ;)

I don't see much point to hunting, except trying to uphold the hopelessly shattered ecosystems of the modern world.
Seeing as that's a pretty necessary thing to do, I don't really see why anyone would have a problem with hunting.

The only thing I find wrong with hunting is the odds. I mean it's you with a scoped rifle and enough bullets to carve a smiley face on it's skin vs an animal(quite possibly with a family) who's just trying to survive in the world we're all already trying to demolish. Some people might say it's the same as eating meat but I don't buy that. Those animals were grown and killed for that particular reason(food), cruel but it doesn't upset any balance. People however hunt the strongest and the fastest, which means not only do they kill a creature that was... you know... just out for a morning stroll, but also fuck up the balance because they keep killing the leaders. Natural selection is NOT the same thing, it's always the weakest that get taken down and if you find any fun in taking down weak and sick animals, you are sick! Hunting is and always was fine as a matter of survival. So if you're hunting the critter because you are starving, then ya it's okey dokey, if you're hunting it for sport (tho the definition of sport in this area is strange, because sport is about something hard to achieve, not sitting on your ass in a tent waiting to pull the trigger) I find that weird.

Hunting is the manliest sport out there but those hippy vegiterians don't think so. Its basic nature ,we have been hunting for millenia. Though I've never been hunting because I can't own a gun.
you can always try hunting with a bow, or crossbow. They requir no firearms licence and are still very deadly.
If it doesn't involve an animal's brains getting blown out I'm not intrested.
I love mankind.

I guess I'm not I'm not against hunting if it's to preserve the ecosystem that's totally messed up, but I admit I'm not terribly educated on the matter. If the ecosystem is really that messed up, then alright, fine. If there is a better way though, we should be doing that, but as I said, I'm not sure if there is one. But guess who did that to the ecosystem? Us! So I'll just go ahead and say that the whole of humanity totally sucks and just leave it at that.

Hunting just for fun is horrible though.
