I do indeed dream. I find it very difficult to recall them after a few days though.

Alrighty, as someone who does have problems entering the various stages of sleep, I can say that, yes, unless you get to a certain point, you won't have dreams. I've been to so-called sleep specialists at a number of universities and clinics, and at no time have I entered the REM cycle necessary for "dreaming". This has, of course, lead to interesting side effects like a lowered life-span expectancy (apparently I'll be lucky to make it past 70), but there is proof out there that one does not necessarily dream whilst asleep.

In very simplified terms, there are 5 levels of sleep, the last of which, deep REM sleep, involves dreaming. The majority of people get all of these. There are those of us who do not reach that level of sleep, no matter what circumstances or drugs are involved.

Personally, I'm locked out at Stage 4 sleep for the most part, which is the spot before the actual restful sleep (that includes dreaming), so once I pass out, it seems like nothing except time has passed until I wake. Maybe, just maybe, once every few months I'll get to the point where I'm so physically and mentally exhausted that I enter stage 5 sleep and dream, but for the most part, sleep brings no respite from the real world.

Moral of the story, I guess, is that if you're one of the majority who has no sleep problems, don't take it for granted. You're in a much better position than those of us with issues.

I'm assuming you mean recollecting dreams, not having them, so I voted sometimes.
I hope to up this number. How you say? Check it.

(lucid dreaming is so cool.)
Nah, lucid dreaming is boring. I've always been able to control my dreams and nothing interesting ever happens unless i stop controlling it and just roll with whatever my brain comes up with.
Kinda like going out to randomly choose a movie instead of staying at home and choosing from your cosy collection. Sure, your own collection might have less scary options and be more comfortable, but it's boring!
Well, I'd at least like to remember more dreams. Could be good inspiration.
And I'm curious, does anyone else get Deja vu from their dreams? Every so often (once a month maybe) I'll see a worksheet in class or something laid out in a remarkably familiar layout. I've been wondering if I've been seeing them in my dreams or something. It's weird.

Don't worry, i've got you covered. I remember anywhere from 2-4 dreams a night. Completely independent dreams that only had the slightest of segways.
Share dammit!

I feel left out of the club :(
You know what... i think i know how to help. Here's what i do: Pick a day, just, a day when you have no obligations like work or school. Then, take your normal sleep schedule. For example, mine:

1:00 am - 11:00 am. Thats my normal sleep cycle. I'm definitely a night owl.

Cut it approximately in half. Mine would be 6:00. Which just so happens to be when a great deal of activity in my house springs up, other people going to work and what not. Wake yourself up only a little bit. Say, an alarm clock that is easily turned off. Then, pick somewhere near the end of your sleep cycle, but still a few hours before you're comfortable getting up. For me it would be about 9 o'clock. Wake yourself up again. Only to fall back asleep.

It's been my experience that waking up, and falling back asleep again induces very strong dreams which i tend to remember quite often.

#1: See, just last night i dreamed i was some secret agent body guard to some hot chick, and i had to drive her armoured 57 mustang through city streets with people shooting at us and throwing home made bombs. It was sweet.

#2: And then i was at a movie that was a combination of like... 4 different comedies, and Avatar. And i had snuck into the theatre by accident... or more by someone elses mistake, i had received tickets that i wasn't supposed to get.

#3: And then there was the dream about the Russian military base, where i was killing people with my bare hands to try and stop the Ruskies from launching their nukes. It was sweeeeeet.

I don't dream as much as I used to. I had a lot of nightmares as a child so maybe that's a good thing. Although I did have one where I woke up shivering with happiness, it wasn't even a very good scenario in the dream I just felt amazingly happy
