Stick with it, you just had a bad day and sum bad luck. Although picking up a second console like a wii or ps3 can ever hurt.

Look, saying that the Xbox has a greater failure rate than the PS3 or vice versa is extremely fanboyish, whatever side you take. THEY BOTH FAIL.
But not for everyone. Its always dependent on environment, usage, storage, ventilation, etc. Yes hardware fails, but its not exclusive to any console.
I've an xbox 360 that I take great care of, cleaning out the dust on a weekly basis, installing games on the drive so as not to place great strain on the spindle and not using it as an overpriced dvd player. Basically I treat it like a notebook or my desktop PC. IT requires maintainence and care.
Also check the hours you log on your box, take breaks and shut it down when you are not playing.
That said, I have personally seen more PS3 failures than 360 failures, including 3 out of the box PS3 burnouts. The magical smoke that runs the console escaped.
But thats personal experience, and I still think that the PS3 is a decent system and has merit, just as much as the Xbox deserves.
And no, being a BluRay player is not an advantage except on disc storage size, which isn't much of a concern as the price of Final Fantasy XIII was the same for 360 despite having more discs.

On the funny side:
Wasn't one of the launch titles for PS3 called Console Fail?

Maybe don't switch but buy one and play them both. Why do people always ask if they gotta switch? Is is financing? Is it real-estate, does their shelf not fit both? Seriously, I like my PS3 way more but you people always word it like you're changing genders and there's no going back.
I agree, is there a rule that says that you cannot own both consoles? I have both the Xbox 360 and PS3 and I am happy I have them both, I get to enjoys games that are from either console.

I hate despise Microsoft, yet I own and love my Xbox 360 and give those greedy bastards 90 of my hard earned dollars every year to pay for Xbox Live, forgetting all the other ways they suck money out of me. Yet when I had a PS3 I never played it and when I had to choose which to sell (knowing I'd get nothing for my Wii) I got rid of the PS3 because I just didn't play it.

In conclusion, do whatever, it's your money.

This sounds more like you pissed off somebody that dabbles in magic.
I'm inclined to believe this. Do you happen to know any angry wizards who may have a grudge against you? Or possibly a dark Jedi?

Windows Live is awful. God help you if you have Vista. You should have got the Xbox replaced (buy the $90 warranty if its out of date), instead of wasting money on a new one.

Sounds like a string of bad tech luck to me, it can occur just as easily on a PS3 as it can on a PC or an Xbox.
Yup, sounds like magic to me too.
Fuckin' wizards, always messin' with my shit too, stealing one sock, misplacing car keys to the top of the tiolet etc. (though it could possibly be Nargles)

I don't reckon you should just switch like that, and that's coming from a PS3 enthusiast.

These sound like a string of bad luck to me, tho in my experience just buying a 360 is like begging for something to go wrong.

The reason Microsoft and I need to have a talk right now is not because of my Xbox/PC, but rather one of my Zunes. My 30G Zune is fine. Never had any problems with it, probably the best portable music playing device ever. The 80G one developed a problem around the v.3 update of the program. as many did http://forums.zune.net/0/1/414749/ShowPost.aspx#414749. M$ wont freakin fix it. You have to send it in and pay around $80 to get it fixed. [HEADING=2]Grrrrr[/HEADING]
