Well has anyone thought that if britan goto war Ireland can just retake N ireland


how does this benefit America well it means England will have to pull their forces back to protect their homeland buying America some time

Well seeming as America has like 12 times the defence budget and a whole butt load of more advanced weaponry it wouldn't be much of a fight. Especially as England buys a lot of military hardware from the Americans, I don't think we could actually wage a war without American hardware.
So bearing that in mind i'd side with America, the obvious winner, even though i'm British.

You know we don't actually want northern Ireland, its not like we're some oppressive colonial power. We only protect it because there are a fuck load of people in northern Ireland who still want to be part of the UK. So far as I'm concerned N Ireland, Wales and Scotland can all fuck right off, trouble is they won't because they need our tax money to prop up their economies.

Exactly. If the catholics and protestants would only play nice, they would of been united with Ireland decades ago. I can only hope, when the inevitable break up of England and Scotland happens, the Scottish will take their little colony with them.

Well if we discard the use of Nuclear weapons, or suppression bombing, and stick to military vs. military combat, America spend like 40% of their budget on their Military... so they definately have the most resources, and because of that America probably have the best (and the most) soldiers, ships, missiles, tanks, planes etc.

But as soon as the first American grunt sets one foot on English soil, signaling an invasion, King Arthur will return to defend Englands borders, and purely by rule of cool the combined might of Americas army doesn't stand a chance against one ancient dude with a magic sword.

I vote England, being english. We would however, lose as America spend a shitload on their military and we can't even find them guns that work...

However I don't think these two countries will go to war against each other any time soon as Britain isn't that stupid and America has us as an ally in the EU.

Also there is absolutly no smegging reason in the world why either of us would invade the other as we are not a threat to each other.

P.S. This topic is extremely dangerous to talk about without incurring a shitload of racial/national hatred.

I honestly don't know. Since it's Ireland, we're neutral when it comes to war, but I'd go with America. Not because of the "Irish-Americans", but because I wouldn't want to side with Britain. Bad blood and all that.

To be quite honest, I don't think many Irish people want it now either. It's a complete kip. Sure, back in the 20th century it was all the rage, but now only a handful of people care. Back then, hell yes it would've been good, but now it's a matter of pride really.

Also, you realise that a war *just* against England, not Great Britain would mean leaving alone the now Indepenant peoples republics of Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

Personally I like the idea that the invasion would just involve america funding armies in Wales, Ireland and Scotland and letting them invade England. Not that america would ever fund Arms in Ireland...*

Well honestly, America is my home country, so I would side with them. But we also have one of the largest and toughest military forces in the world. Our equipment is one of the best out there. Lets compare say something like our Abrams tank. We have only lost, like 2 or 3 in the Gulf and Afghan. I don't remember where I read AND heard that, but look it up. The number is incrediably small. So right there, our tanks are 100% superior. Our APC's are incrediably tough to, like the Bradley, or the Humvee. While not so heavily armored the humvee can take a direct blast from an RPG and keep going. We have the largest Air Force in the world, AND the Iran's on our side.

We've only lost one Challenger 2.

And it was hit directly by another tank of the same kind.

I'm an American, so, biased. But from an objective viewpoint, England would have one hell of a fight on their hands. That's only if some of Europe sides with them. If not, then i think would hold out for a while, but eventually fall. If there's only a few things we do well, it's B-52's, tomahawk's, and soldiers. Nothing against Brits, but the U.S Marine corps is only slightly smaller than the British army, and like 1/3 the size of U.S army. Stealth aircraft also unbalance the whole thing. Casualties on both sides be horrible though.

I actually didn't realise that a lot of funding came from America. I was just passing a comment on how disorganised they weree (and still are).
