HEART!

Though I guess since that doesn't count I guess... It's hard really, am I the only one able to bend an element, and if so, to what extent can I bend it? Can I order the earth to spontaneously grow trees? Because that would help the world a lot. Could I create fire from nothing or would I need a fire to bend it?

Where's heart? /joke

But I voted Earth. Crushing people in combat is my style. And riding a wave of rock would be awesome.
Agreed. Plus just being able to make a house out of stone whenever you were tired would be pretty neat. And throwing huge boulders at people would be funny.

I do not like any of those elements. The Element of Lightning is what I want. If I HAD To chose one of those 4 pathetic elements, I'd go with wind, since I could basically turn air into razor sharp invisible blades.

Is ths meant to seem like innuendo? Actually don't answer that, everything is funnier when the answer is yes.

Water. It's offensive, defensive, can heal, and is just plain elegant. Plus, I love swimming and the ocean and all that stuff... water has always been my element.

(I always chose Squirtle :p)

As much as I am a pyromaniacal freak, I'd have to go with Air, just for the sheer awesomeness of wind and being able to fly. =P

earth FTW, as said before, pebble machine gun.

plus, id you put sand in the soles of your shoes, then you could fly.

and being able to throw the moon at someone(and screw up water benders in the process) would be fun to say the least.

Fire. I would go on a rampage destroying the entire city until someone finally takes me out. (I would of course be keeping enough fire around me to melt any bullets that should come my way)
Why does everyone seem to think that just because the bullet has melted it's harmless?! It's the bane of my star wars arguments! Lightsabres don't stop them just because they might melt them!

You're still getting hit by 1200+mph Blobs of Molten metal. They're still going in, except now they'll burn you, too!

Ice shields, razor sharp icecicles, you know, stuff like that.

I can't believe no one has linked this yet. [http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0423.html]

It's what I'd choose too. xD

Air. How can you make a fire if there is no air? How are you going to breath if there is no air? You could use air pressure to do everything you could with the other bendingstuffs and create tornadoes.

Besides at a certain temperature EVERYTHING is gas.

No, Katara has healing power. Not all waterbenders can heal wounds. And I don't spend too much time around water. I don't know what I'd do with waterbending anyway. I wouldn't need it to pour liquid into a glass. Wouldn't need it to drink that liquid. Wouldn't need it in the shower or the bath. I guess you could just spend hours practicing your waterbending technique and playing with water, but the same goes with fire as well. Although waterbending is considerably more relaxed than firebending.
I thought all master water benders had healing powers (Katara being a master bender). O well.
Water is everywhere though, in the air (air humidity), in every living creature (not only great for slaughter, also great for practical jokes, think this Rowan Atkinson sketch [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWdEUYZAPdA&feature=related], without the blowing in the ear and ofcourse the invisible man in this case being a water bender). When it rains, you don't need an umbrella, you just let the rain flow around you. Instant icecream of a perfect texture (given that you're a master bender). You don't need a glass anymore for a drink, just floop in your mouth. Plus it's not so destructive as fire, you can play a lot more with water bending. Your right about the relaxing part btw, I think that's because water bending is based on tai chi, a martial arts based on using and directing the energy of your opponent rather then strenght from yourself. It's elegant, rather then aggressive.

This is a difficult one, actually. I'm torn between earth and fire.

Fire is, in essence, chemical change, so by extension, one who knows how to bend fire really knows how to change chemical compounds and recreate substances everywhere.

Earth-bending allows metal-bending, and given the high percentage of items/buildings made today that are either made of stone or metal, this pretty much would imply a god-status.

I'm going to go with... fire, for now. Intriguingly enough, it seems like the less ostentatious of the two options.
