X Game Company is the worst, run by sleazy mobsters and marketing graduates. They buy up quality franchises and then run them into the ground, force buggy broken games prematurely out of the door and then shut down any support within two months, their DRM is intrusive and an invasion of privacy, and they've repeatedly and clearly stated their disdain for their consumer base, whom they regard as a mass of walking wallets with stupid faces.

I swear, their next game, Gun Blaster 4, will be the last game I buy from the- wait, they're making a sequel to Pew Pew Guy? Pee in my mouth, X Game Company!

I don't.

I refuse to buy Activision and EA products now as a matter of principle due to their business practices. And, except for the Assassin's Creed games which I like too much, I do the same to Ubisoft as well.

Thankfully this is easy since I don't really like anything these people make anyway. That is... until ME3 comes out. That will be the first game to come out from a publisher I hate that I will genuinely be irritated that I won't be able to play.

I don't hate any games company. I reserve my hatred for creators of products that actually affect my normal life. (Such as trash newspapers and the people who repeat stories from them like facts.)

If I don't like a game, I don't have to play it. So it's difficult for a video game company to get on my nerves that much.

Unless - I don't know - the board of directors at EA start shooting homeless people for sport. Then I might stop buying their games!
Well EA, did Support SOPA
*shrug* I'm not American, and I'm inherently suspect of the real threat value of any legislation that has not yet been challenged in court. (My father was a city lawyer for many years. He says a law isn't "real" until it has been successfully implemented and defended in a real case.)
OK, well I would keep an eye on ACTA if I was you then.

BTW, how would your father go about Challenging a law that makes it illegal to challenge a law?

If you are saying that people shouldn't criticise games companies for making bad games then you are wrong. Word of mouth can heavily influence games sales and it's one of the ways fans can influence games developers to up their game or give them what they actually want.

We aren't going to sit here demurely while they pump out shovelware and rushed games.

Publishers don't count for me, It's unfair on the developers like 38 Studios who, by their own admission, only used EA for funding matters. Things like online passes are often not even brought to their attention.

Case in point

I rent 90% of my games, and the games that i buy are usually ones i really want.

It's a bit like piracy, except legal.

How's that for protest.

Bethesda. None of their games in my shelves, and there won't be until they make or put out something good.

My answer won't change. I stick to my principles, and so therefore I will not buy ME3 until EA stops with it's bullshit (specifically its spyware program Origin).

Right now there is only one game company I am legitimately upset with: Capcom (and really just the north american branch) because...and I know this is gonna sound petty...

They didn't localize Ace Attorney Investigations 2. Yes, that upset me greatly, as the AA series is one of my favorites. In fact right now, the movie has been confirmed for worldwide release. It's a little sad that the live action movie is getting more respect in the west than the game franchise is.

So no, I'm not buying any Capcom games. Which is much easier than it sounds because Capcom isn't releasing anything that I want to buy anyway. The only recent Capcom game that came out that I want to buy is UMvC3 because it's unique in the sense that it has both my favorite comic book character and favorite video game character in the same game (She-Hulk and Phoenix Wright)

However, I will be buying that game used online sometime in the distant future.

So yes, it's petty and sad and doesn't actually accomplish anything...but it makes ME feel better :p

But you will still keep buying Assasins Creed games right?

It felt like you were saying if you don't like it don't buy it rather than complain about games you don't like.

I'm sorry if I misconstrued that. I think my part about the publishers still stands though we can hardly blame developers for needing funding.

Where's the "I don't hate any game companies" option?
Then don't answer the question. That's like going to an AA meeting and telling everyone that you don't drink :p

Ubisoft doesn't piss me off quite as much as the others, so they get it a little easier from me.

Yes indeed it does, and I agree with it :)

I don't buy their stuff. Sometimes that means missing out on games I'd like, but that's just the way it goes.

Like everyone else probably said, hate EA, but still buy their games cos thy're good. It's the way they sell them that sucks.
Death to origin! (and various other bad practices they use)

Irrelevant random side note: hmm... Just got a beta invite to some terrible looking MMO called 'Forgotten worlds'. Never heard of it till just now. meh.

I wasn't sure what to choose, so I chose Other.

I'll buy a game if it's good. There's nothing else too it. I may hate how EA handles pretty much any of their consumers, but that doesn't mean I don't want Dead Space 3 or Mass Effect 3.

I hate Square-enix so much because half of them use to be good, then they made the worst games in history and forgetting that the fun of a role-playing game is startegy and having a wide range of possible combat mechanics, you know the whole GAME part of Final Fantasy.
Now they want to make movies and the stories they make are even more fucking terrible.
Fuck you Square-enix, FF13 is so fucking bad.

In British law, there's no such thing. Any law - in fact, anything in general - can be challenged in court. That's what a case-based system is about. It's not real until it's been challenged and upheld.
