Why can't we just have a limitless inventory like in the .....well I can't think of a game with a limitless one....but still limitless!
Mass Effect's inventory is practically limitless, or very large, anyway.

Space is cool if it's like Neverwinter Nights, or Baldur's Gate, or Diablo, where different things take different space, and you can organize it. Borderlands "you can hold 20 stuffs" was kinda lame.

The in-game rationale for BORDERLANDS, was that your weapons where stored away in some sort of 'Bag of Holding' of the future. Look at every character model, and they have a sort of holster on them. Lilith has it on her right thigh like a pistol holster, Mordechi has one across his chest, etc. They all have a think blue glowing line down them, and if you ever get into a multiplayer game and really WATCH someone switch weapons, you'll see that device actually emit a blue glowing field whenever they switch weapons. So their storage devices, which can be upgraded, only hold 'X' amount of stuff, which is fine for BORDERLANDS. I'm more concerned about which guns to keep or drop, I didn't need to worry about weather the barrel of my sniper rifle would interfere in storing it with my rocket launcher.

I liked the weight limit in Fallout 3, despite being able to hold 1000's of bullets and 20 mini nukes without penalty.

Good thing F:New Vagas is going to have ammo weight limits too!

I didn't like the weight limit in fallout 3 so

"player.modav carryweight 50000"

plan to do the same in New Vegas

Weight system worked the best for me, I sort of liked what Diablo II did with the square inventory system but it just felt to constrained.
