Do you notice how many gamers are non-religious, but a lot of them are looking forward to christmas?

Do you notice that most people who are non-religious still celebrate christmas, not just gamers?

I figured due to the nature of the site I would focus on gamers
Hmm.

Sure, we're hypocrites by that analogy.

But this is a gamer site so he has to keep it relevant.

As for the topic, Christmas isn't about Jesus dying or whatever, its about buying your step daughter something she'll like so they she'll finally accept you into the family as a replacement for her dead father.

Money money money, just like valentines day. As for me, I don't wait until a special day to buy something nice for someone I care about.

Exactly. I'm non-religious, I still celebrate christmas. Although I celebrate more for the family get together, and the approaching of the new year rather than what it is actually meant to be celebrated for.

It is true gamers and pretty much everyone else alike uses Christmas to get their materialistic fix we all do it, but should we shame our selves, I dunno.

I treat Christmas as a way for families to get together and enjoy time spent in each other's company.
Alternatively, PRESENTS!

Christmas has really lost its roots as a religious holiday, swept up in the tide of Commercialism.

It actually kinda sickens me to see people turn into crazed maniacs, trying to buy all this superfluous crap. Definitely one of my least favorite times of the year.

It's the most release heavy period and we all get time off to see our families.

Religious or not it's something to look forward to, how is that hypocritical Mr Jokerchu?

Isn't christmass a mash-up of old traditions (winter festivals for insatnce) from several cultures, which just got "christened" a long time ago in a galaxy far away

2 ways of looking at X-mas:
1. Santa Claus Way - Brings presents. No Jesus enters the picture. (The Non Religious way.)
2. Jesus Way - Celebrate his death Birth. Changed for you good people, go home, Santa Claus brings gifts.

Don't need to be religious to celebrate gift giving and kindness :)

And before anyone goes off about The whole existence of Santa Claus, Don't. For the younger members of our forum. If we have members younger than Jimmy..

This is wrong on several levels...

The most basic being: Christmas can be celebrated secularly, as a commercial holiday.

Blasphemous! Yeah I ticked the "doesn't have any religious meaning" box too, but they could have put a time like that in the summer! Call it superfamilygamingtimemass

It's actually celebrating his birth, but whatever.

I'm religious, but I also like presents.
