Does this make console gamers inferior? No. They just either can't afford an up-to-date PC setup or choose to play consoles anyway.
I love my PC, I wouldn't go back to consoles for the world, but the majority of people such as myself don't 'look down upon' console gamers and PC elitists are few and far between.

...You know he's trying to find out how many PC elitists there are, right?almostgold said:That's fair. Oh wait, I'm being sarcastic. Its actually retarded and biased.El Presidente said:Please don't vote in the poll if you do not consider yourself a PC gamer
So? I know more people who complain about racism then I know racists. This doesn't mean anything. It seems that people who whine and complain about PC elitism being all everywhere are actually much more common than PC elitists.
Of course platforms influence each other. But claiming that PC gaming (PC in the broad sense of the word, not IBM compatible) owes everything to consoles is a bit of an exaggeration. The platforms are not isolated, but there is and was a distinct style of design unique to certain platforms. When people chose certain platforms over others it was often a decision based on what type of games were available, and less so a matter of technical specs.LilithSlave said:No, they are influential and important for all gaming. Computer games and console games are not two different worlds of influence.Bostur said:The titles you mention are important for the history of console gaming, but less so for influencing PC and microcomputer gaming. I would make quite a different list of important influences.
And consoles revived the entire gaming industry. Not console games, ALL games were boosted by the NES system. The Western industry crashed in the 80s. Crashed. It was a crash. PC games were not prospering. And they would not be doing as well as they were doing today were it not for the Nintendo.
And let's just say your idea of PC games and console games being two different disciplines were true(which it's not). I can't see how you can claim that the PC doctrine is remotely better. Most of the most acclaimed video games of all time, are console exclusives and would likely fit into your definition of the "console style video game".
And just to state it again, PC and console are not two different disciples. You're a PC gamer if you like playing on the PC platform more, nothing else. Not whether you like or can't stand Japanese games, or controllers, or prefer first person shooters to platformers. Do you realize that Ultima took influence for Dragon Quest?
I'm not so sure about the prices. My friend is a console only gamer and he has about a $2000 surround sound system and a $3500 72" TV. For gaming. So what I'm saying is, you can spend a lot or a little either way, although I will agree that if we consider lowest common denominator alone, consoles should be cheaper.Saren657 said:Sorry to the PC users that are not elitists, and the same with the Xbox 360 users that are not fanboys.
I play the PC and Xbox360 but the fact is that it does not matter what you play on. You may get better graphics on a PC but if you are playing a crap game it does not matter how high the graphics are it will always be a crap game, normal people generally go for games they like playing and do not care about graphical detail of them. You could always say that prices for games on the Xbox360 are more expensive than PC again who cares Xbox 360 users were not the ones that just spent about £1500 (or $) for a electronical device to play games on it does not matter if you play games on something that costs £1500 or £200/300 you can still get the same amount of enjoyment from games. One thing i can agree with the PC users is if you play PC online you do not hear 12 year olds acting like idiots on headsets making everyone's gaming experience more depressing and dull.
