I remember it was around the time the new "Dragonball Z Burst Limit" commercials were airong, and I went on g4tv.com to see their review/inevitable rant on it. That's when I noticed that they hadn't been reviewing games much lately.
This is when I noticed that it started going downhill, and the fact that Will Wright basically had his own segment on the show (practically) everyday, warned me that they were selling out.
The old show, when it was them on a couch reviewing Games for the entire show, was when X-play was at it's best, and funniest.
Taking out most of what made your show funny/good in the first place to appeal to a larger audience is what made X-play lose me as a fan.

In 2008 they changed their show to include the lesser viewed shows such as Cheat and made it more like AOTS, taking out all of the junk that made the show unique. Now instead of a few reviews a day it's almost three reviews a week and a load of previews and gaming news trash. The spark that made the show unique is no longer there and I no longer had the urge to watch X-play.
And while Adam definitely makes X-play real, he now has a blogging segment called Sesslers' Soapbox online that has the old classy ranting humor and none of today's X-play garbage.
I do wish they would return the show to its roots, but being that G4 is no longer a gaming network, I doubt it will happen unless the network itself finds a new owner that cares.

I always liked Xplay back when they reviewed games and only revied games but then the show seemed to lose focus. They got a bunch of new segments, and some how absorbed cheat. I didn't really like all the new stuff they were doing, it felt forced, it bored me, it seemed to just creat a longer wait till I got to see what I wanted to see, you know the reviews. but I still tried to watch it, and eventually I just stopped watching all together.

X-play was at it best when G4 was techTV and yes i know it started on ZDTV. But the real change in the show was when they move from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Long live Leo Laporte.
All of my friends and I have stopped watching G4 in general....except for the occasional movie that doesn't suck, or Ninja Warrior....or Code Monkeys, one of the funniest shows ever. The entire network has gone way too main stream. They actually had halo 3 as game of the year last year (yeah it was user voted, which means they have a lot of fake nerds watching), and this year it was Fable II.....above Fallout 3.... anyone see a problem there? I mean, they used to have Oblivion and other actually kickass games as game of the year. Also, attack of the show. That show was the beginning of the end in my opinion.
X-play has become a pompous ass of a show. It needs to stop being the second hour of AOTS and go back to making gaming jokes and enjoyable reviews. It needs to bring back the humorous segments and stop all these big name interviews with everybody. It has sold it soul to be more popular and has become the Sonic of G4,it just adds more and more people that no one cares about and takes the focus of Adam and Morgan. I also second Code Monkeys being one of the funniest shows ever. They need to 180 the show back to the good times and get rid of Blair,Joel,Christen,and anyone who isn't Adam or Morgan. I have been wanting to rant on this topic for awhile, it just pisses me of so bad
