Poll: Is Xbox 360 done?

I've heard it said many times that this console generation is going to be the longest, and given what we've seen in terms of graphical enhancements and leaps forward in patching technology, I can't see any reason why this wouldn't be the case. The 360, along with the Wii and the PS3, will probably stay right where they are well into the 10's. I wouldn't anticipate a new console before, say, 2015.

Unless you're talking about this in terms of the "console war", in which case I have to say, you're kind of idiotic if you still buy into that crap.

I think there all almost done...I just wanna see the new consoles more than anything now. Starting with wii in HD and a 360 thats framerate doesnt suffer in reach...I still love reach though dont get me wrong

No the 360 is not dying out, it's holding up perfectly well in the gaming market, as is the 360.

You presented one actual point that would suggest that the 360 could even begin to fail in the console market. Until you come back with more, the point you made is pretty weak.

The exact same thing was said when the 360 started getting games that were previously PlayStation exclusive. Both systems are great, and for their own reasons. One is NOT better then the other, nor is either dying out anytime soon. This Gen of consoles is not coming to a close, hell, they are just releasing new "motion detection technology" for said systems.

Consoles will come and go, but whiners will remain forever.

I thought we decided last year, when the Microsoft guy actually told us, that they weren't planning on redeveloping a totally new console until at least another 5 years? And why put down the 360 and not the PS3? That doesn't make sense, so what a few exclusives are no longer exclusives that doesn't mean there is no hope for this console anymore, it just means the publishers and devs want more money.

Games getting ported isn't what will see off this current-gen console. Besides, they're probably already working on a next-gen console as we speak. I think it's safe to predict that it will have more focus on motion control, seeing as Kinect and Move are set to be a hit.

I've read that they are talking about a Wii HD by some time 2011. Other than that, I do not know if we will ever see a PS4 or Xbox 720. The bottle neck to a new generation of graphics is not the hardware at this time, but in development. Already, doing a 720 P game has twice the production time and costs of developing for last gen.

So, I think that is why there is all the hype about the motion stuff. Today's games do what they need to do in terms of graphics.

Maybe they will start to think about gen 8 when 3D TV sets are becoming somewhat universal. As I have just in the last 6 months replaced the last CRT in my home, I'm not getting another for some time.

On topic: The 360 still has the best Netflix service of the 3 consoles, best on line (at a price) for my money, the most comfortable controller and now has wireless N built in. It has a larger library than the PS3 and its older titles are now very reasonably priced for budget minded gamers.

Last I read, their sales are doing better than the PS3 as well, so, no, why would I think it nearly done?

In the meantime, I own a PS3 as well. It has its own strengths. But, if someone without a console were to ask me which one to get if they had to get only one, I'd be hard pressed to give them an answer.

I wouldn't say it's "done" but it's definitely losing it's flair. For me at least the only exclusive titles i'd like to play is Viva Pinata and ME1, the PS3 on the other hand is racking up a pretty damn awesome list.

Isn't it going to be a few years at least before the next generation of consoles come out? So it's not likely that you can call any current console 'done', to be honest they're all still fine in my book every console still has its plus points that their fans love them for and if anything this has been the most even generation of consoles so far with every console offering a unique experience and good exclusives all round.

Besides who could call a console thats shifted how many millions of copies of the exclusive Halo Reach last week dead?

ME2 was schedual for multiplatform realease from the off, their's no reasont hey would narrow their net.
and i agree, what are you getting at? the 360 and the PS3 are currently both running strong on their own merits, the xbox for it's online and the ps3 for it's graphical capabilities and multimedia shit, their more to it than that but i'm going on the general opinion of the 80 or so male couterparts in my college classes.

As long as people can, they will release for all the platforms they can, lest they sign a detail with a specific brand or company, i.e. Team Ninja with Metroid being only of the wii, or Bungie with halo being specific to microsoft oriented produce.

Well this gen is coming to a close and it seems the once strong 360 is losing all it's me only games.

With Mass Effect 2 going to the PlayStation and it large AAA game like God of War. Is this it for 360 to go out with not a roar but a wimper. I myself will keep the 360 simply becuase I already own it. Unless it RR me again then not so much.

Wait so a game that was not an Exclusive for the console already is what makes the 360 die out? Sure lets go with that.

OT: Hey the PS3 just came out with something that looks an awful lot like the Wii motion controls does that mean that the Wii has completely won this console war and the PS3 has gone out with a wimper? FUCK NO. Games come and go ALL THE TIME and that doesn't mean hack shit. 360 and PS3 are both 2 generation consoles meaning that they don't need to make a new console for at least 2 generations. Hell the Dreamcast was a 2 generation console that sold poorly. I see all console sales to go down in the future but not to the point where one of them dies.
