Very nice sir.Dr_Cuddles said:Boo-Feakin-Hoo.
The exact same thing was said when the 360 started getting games that were previously PlayStation exclusive. Both systems are great, and for their own reasons. One is NOT better then the other, nor is either dying out anytime soon. This Gen of consoles is not coming to a close, hell, they are just releasing new "motion detection technology" for said systems.
Consoles will come and go, but whiners will remain forever.
How's that for a first post.
While some people are still lapping up new Halo and Gears of War games, most people realise that they're not even as good as multiplatform games, and the hype will die out. That's why Epic is working on Bulletstorm and Bungie is done with Halo. They're quitting while they're ahead.MercurySteam said:Just because more and more games go multiplatform, does not mean one specific console will start losing it's mojo. I mean, are exclusives really that important?IceStar100 said:Well this gen is coming to a close and it seems the once strong 360 is losing all it's me only games.
If they are, then all I have to say is Halo: Reach and Gears of War 3.
Blue Dragon off hand with 3.Could you please tell me of one 360 game that requires more than 2 discs? (FF13 doesn't count here due to the fact that the game was dragged out waaaaaaaaay too much. 10 hours of bullshit as a fill in is not a good way to make a game)Darth_Dude said:You know, having like 7 discs for a really big game and the ps3 having one.
Wow even got Susan mad at me that got to be a new one. I was not trying to troll I even wanted to be proven wrong to be honest. I myself felt like me only games are the strength of a console. I woul have replayed sooner but well the net went down on me an I just got it back. Thank you for replaying I'm sorry if I came out as a troll it was not my intent with losing Mass Effect an Bungie I was just asking to see others views on the subject in a nutral place with many voices. Again I am sorry i kicked up so much dust. Still proud of getting a responce from Susan thought even if it an angry one. Even the wrath of go means he's paying attition to you.Susan Arendt said:A console doesn't need exclusives to be worthwhile, and the 360 is hardly "done". Bungie is done with Halo because every developer eventually needs to eventually say farewell to their greatest creation (Square Enix could learn much from Bungie) and Epic Games isn't making BulletStorm, People Can Fly are actually the ones making it. (they're a Polish studio owned by Epic) Plus CliffyB is doing something most developers don't do; he's not overdoing it by making too many games for one series. In three Gears of War games Epic will have accomplished that which it set out to do: make a series of awesome games, tell a half-decent story and leave people wanting more from Epic.migo said:While some people are still lapping up new Halo and Gears of War games, most people realise that they're not even as good as multiplatform games, and the hype will die out. Not even close. There have been some excellent exclusives like Gears, Alan Wake, Halo series, Crackdown series,Metro 2033, Left 4 Dead series, and that is just what I can think of off the top of my head. With the PS3 losing MGS, I don't see the 360 ending anytime soon.
By all rights the next one "should" start soon, as since 1985 there hasn't been more than 5 years between a console of one generation being newly released and the next one being released.Vanguard_Ex said:How the fuck is this gen coming to a close?
If I can trick someone to buy shit by convincing them it s chocolate... just because they buy it that shit doesn't magically turn into chocolate.Snarky Username said:Well seeing as these problems have plagued the XBox 360 since its release and it still is selling huge numbers of consoles, I would say that people really don't care as much as you think they do. For the XBox 360 to be "done" something would have needed to change in the equation, and it appears that nothing has as of yet. There so far is no reason to assume that the XBox is dying. If those issues were really that detrimental to the XBox, one would think that the XBox would have died a long time ago. The PS3 has always had better graphics and better exclusives compared to the XBox, but that hasn't seemed to damper sales as of yet.Treblaine said:If only capitalism was so infallible that good profit is always correlated with consumer satisfaction. I don't care all that much about Microsoft nor any company's profits (unless they are on the brink of foreclosure) but the consumer and the games, they come first.
Xbox 360 has a lot of hidden costs BEYOND what you'd find with PS3 or Wii that are often not considered by the user when deciding which system to buy:
-Xbox Live Gold, can add $250 to $550 to the overall price of a system
-Excessively overpriced peripherals, from many minor fixes to large and especially Kinect (Move + Eye = $45 + $25)
-RROD + 3 year Warranty / 10 year long generation = huge proportion have to "buy twice" or even more
It can mean going with Xbox that seems to be the "cheap option" at $200 for the 4GB model can cost almost $1000 in the long run to match the GAMING capability of other competing systems which should be enough to buy you TWO powerful gaming PCs
And they get less:
-Sony and even Nintendo each have more development studios working on games exclusively for their systems than Microsoft, who seems to be getting rid of them at an accelerated rate.
-PS3 has always had unique hardware capabilities like Six-axis and Blu-ray
-Exclusive development on PS3 has yielded significantly better graphics than on Xbox 360 (Gears vs Uncharted) also better performance (1080p + 60fps for racers like Wipeout/GT5)
You say they're not quitting while they're ahead, but the parts I bolded show you're actually agreeing with me. You're just in awe of them so you want to present it differently. The fact is the more they make those games the more people will realise their shortcomings. People already realised it with Halo 3 - that's why the series is already getting a lot of flak despite the fans. People are also twigging it on Gears of War - there's a much better way to do the game overall. It's a great concept, but concept doesn't get you far.MercurySteam said:Bungie is done with Halo because every developer eventually needs to eventually say farewell to their greatest creation (Square Enix could learn much from Bungie) and Epic Games isn't making BulletStorm, People Can Fly are actually the ones making it. So you see they're not "quitting while they're ahead", they're just simply finishing what needs to be finished. Ending a good series is praiseworthy, not something your insult a developer over.
I'm sorry but I just have to disagree.Garak73 said:Without Kinect, the new design and a new controller design...it would be dying much faster. which might explain MS's fixation with Kinect at the moment.
Kinect will surprise so many of us, if given the chance. You watch.
In fact Microsoft spokespeople have said exactly that, Kinect will extent the life of the 360.
But given that Kinect exists, would that not suggest that it's life has been extended. Therefore, it's not dying anymore.
Beyond that, I don't think it's dying anymore than it was 5 years ago.
It's always had an expiration date which has always been getting closer. None of this changes the fact that it's still going strong and has a great library of games and quite a few games coming out soon.
I see what you're saying, but the thing that I'm arguing is whether the XBox is done as a selling console, which it is most definitely not. The point is not whether the XBox is shit or chocolate, but whether or not Microsoft can sell that shit/chocolate. I see what you're saying with the PS3 and to be honest, I agree with it. But the question is whether the XBox will have staying power on the market, and you have to admit that it does, for better or for worse. From a technological standpoint, though, I agree with you completely. Sony, in my eyes, is much more concerned about quality and customer satisfaction than Microsoft, but Microsoft has a cheaper product that most consumers are satisfied buying.Treblaine said:Snip snap
I agree, please do try to open your mind, and do a little research before posting such bold statements. Also, Miss Arendt is very right, all gaming platforms have something worthwhile to offer. For example 360- Halo series, Alan Wake etc, Pc- Steam, Ps3,- God of War.Susan Arendt said:A console doesn't need exclusives to be worthwhile, and the 360 is hardly "done".
