For anyone who plays FPS's like COD4/WW you are familiar with the kill cam. As most know kill cams show who killed you and how they did it from a rewind clip from thier view, (other wise the game is givin you a virtual middle finger as to how you died.) But it has come to my attention that the kill cam can be a very large threat to FPS gameing. Take the sniper, as a sniper myself my job is to find a high elevated area that I am able to see important areas of the map while staying as hidden as possible, and when I get there thats when the snipeing starts, but........ playing a game like COD4/WW were dead players get a kill cam greatly raises the risk of someone findin were you are and shovin a shotgun up your but. In Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 there no kill cam but it does snap to the person that killed you, (also givin you the finger) so again it raises the risk of some one goin to were your hidin and bum rush you.
I guess this is mainly for the snipers out there but do you think the kill cam gives an unnecessary "hey if you wanna know who killed you and were they are they are right here" advantage?

Edit:
yes I know I had ps3 titles on here and not 360 other than COD4/WW, so fanboys take it somewere eles.

I gotta say no for they kinda show where on the map you are(if camping or sniping) and also it shows if you hacked(in cod4)...not that I hack <_<

Depends on the game.

If its Tf2 who cares everyone can spot a sniper and were he is aiming. If its games like Day of Defeat:source is bad cause it reveals the position of said sniper. Which sucks.

I don't rate camping to be an acceptable form of fun. Killcams make sure people are playing the game they paid for, and not just sitting in one spot shooting whatever saunters by. Go play Time Crisis if you hate your movement stick so much, dammit!

But killcams can also show you why you died, if you want to get better at the game, or they can infuriate you if you see that they didn't deserve the kill they got.

In every game I've played, killcams have been a voluntary thing, and you can skip them if you don't care about them. They shouldn't be omitted from any game unless there's good reason for it, and I can't think of any reasons other than flow-breaking. But that's what respawns are for anyway.

nah, not really... if i know there is a killcam, and on the rare occasion i am sniping, what i'd do is move myself to a different location after each kill. may be a hassle, but in a way its more realistic - in real life a sniper gets once shot and then has to high-tail it out of there.

I see what you all are sayin, but when it comes to snipeing you don't wanna let your opponent know were you are cuz it can be a ***** tryin to quick aim at someone runin at you with a gun with your name on the bullet.

Its dumb it takes away the reason to use the perks like that take you off the radar and its not even fair that you snipe someone and then they come over to you and kill you.

Then move! There should be more than one hotspot per map, you can switch between them and outsmart the other chap on the other side of the cables.

It eliminates sniper-camp. So how is it a bad thing? It adds more strategy to the game..

Kill cams are the anti camp, but they are also the anti snipe, and it's the giving away of sniper's positions that annoy me.

But on the flipside when a sniper makes a kill, he should move anyway if he doesn't want his position to be given away, so I guess I'll vote in favour.

I guess it depends on the game. In a game like TF2, a killcam wouldn't hurt anyone, though I think the freezecam does a good enough job. I think CS could use one as well, considering the fact that you only have one life per round. Though it might lead to increased shouts of "hacker!". However, games like DoD or Red Orchestra, games where finding a decent sniping spot is vital, and people are always respawning, the killcam could easily ruin the game.

That is why I love Kill Cams.
I always wanted them and now I can't stand games without them.
Campers and Snipers piss me off, but with the Kill Cam, the game's a little more even.

BTW: Real snipers relocate after a kill.

My thoughts exactly. Rather than stay in one area and snipe then get pissed that the kill cam gave away where you have been for the last 10 minutes. If you snipe then move around its a better experience.

Isn't there a possibility to come up with a kind of middle ground here? Like if you've been inside a certain area for a certain time or number of kills, THEN people can see where you are with a kill cam? Then people would have to be smart enough to relocate before their hideout is disclosed to the enemy, or be killed by an angry mob of victims, thus creating a kind of balance.

It's not always that easy. If your sniping people in a hot area the last thing on your mind is "oh well I killed someone better move some where eles." It's more like "hot damn lets see how many more people i can kill here."

I like them. Sniping's never been my game, and besides: there's a big step between simply knowing where that sniper was and actually killing the bastard. A really good sniper can use the killcam to dupe his victims: snipe a couple, let them come to where you were, and leave a claymore to say "hi" instead.

OK OK OK hold on maybe I worded what I'm sayin in the con faver alittle too much. I'm Good with the kill cam and all, gave me some sniper locations, but a snipers job is to kill the enemy without them knowing were the bullet came from, the kill cam kindda give a yoohoo over here kindda flip to it. I guess what I'm askin is snipeing worth wild any more because of the kill cam. Because relocating every time you make a hit get tiring after awhile.

It keeps you on your toes and forces you to either plant a claymore (like a lazy person would do) or to find a sniping point that cannot be flanked and is to far away to get killed by a machine gun.
