I don't want either. Those two types of men can get really annoying either way. I want someone that will respect me of who I am, and won't cheat on me. We should have somethings in common, but as long as we get along, I don't really care.

I want someone who cares about me.
I'd be scared of the guy if he looked like he could beat me up >_>
Compassion and caring are key, but I don't want someone super skinny - men with some meat on 'em (even if they're a little chubby) is just what I want ^_^
Besides. Those manly men have no personality, and conversations rock. :D

EDIT:

Actually, "manly" men have more testosterone than the less manly men. Woman are biologoically attracted to the man with more testosterone (generally). This is why they always seem to get the girl.
Actually, it's been proven that the prevalent use of The Pill (which makes the body stop ovulating, sort of like pregnancy) has caused women to be more attracted to men with less testosterone. When women are capable of ovulation, they look for the strongest man to father the child. Then - evolutionarily speaking - they leave that man and look for the kinder man to help her raise the child.
The Pill sort of mimics pregnancy, and thus women have been more attracted to those with less testosterone, because it's so insanely popular, even with those who are not sexually active (due to its regulatory properties in relation to the menstrual cycle)

A mixture, sweet and manly. For example:

Give me either one and I'll be happy for life. And I don't care that they're not real.

I like how the poll results are essentially giving you the finger.

At any rate... Through much frustration I've found women can't make up their minds, and as such they generally want both, depending on the occasion/situation.

A guy can be both, yea? From my experience almost no girl wants to be with a pussy. You can be a nice guy without being a little *****.

Anyone I'd go for has to be enough of a man to take my sarcasm, and since I'm normally a bit domineering sweet enough to put up with it and still like me XD I'm using the "capable of taking my jokes and losing nicely on multiplayer" type of manly there. Man up!
Individuality means more to me than both those qualities though.

I'm sorry, but women lie. 90% of woman you ask this question will say they prefer sweet guys, but in reality 90% of women are attracted to the manly man.
True, Women are great liars

How else could we survive?

Sexy.

I actually heard that women will take an average guy over a good-looking guy is the former smells better.

As far as I know, a guy needs three qualities to get a girl.
1) Confidence (good looks help).
2) Combative competence (ie, outward signs that you are entirely capable of protecting her).
3) Perception (the ability to diagnose and treat whatever psychological needs she has).

Also, a fair-sized wang helps, NO MATTER WHAT WOMEN SAY.

Ladies, do you want a malny man? Like the guys in old spice comercials, who has more swagger than James Bond and Frank Sintra.

Or do you want a guy that will tell you he loves you everday, and cook for you and be compassionate?
From what I know about Women, they want both - and neither - at the same time - but also one at the right time but not at the others but want them to be it without provocation but intuitively.

I find it hilarious that anybody could begin to apply science and logic to emotions, especially the love life of women.

You might as well ask a poll of which direction the wind is blowing.
South east

Ot: Combine the two, nobody wants a cowardly sniffly guy who is always telling you that he loves you and thats all that matters, nor do people like the "Look at me funny and i'll shiv you you ****" type either.
I am not female so I could be completely wrong, I am just going by trends I see

It ultimately depends. If a lady knows a sweet guy likes her or is with a sweet guy, she'll want a manly man. If she knows a manly man likes her, or is with a manly man, she'll want a sweet guy. Because women are unpleaseable, short of the guy they're with being completely perfect *bitter*

Yeah, at least there's a bit of science (albeit sketchy science) to the way the wind blows.

I wouldn't mind me a manly man... but I don't mind the cute ones either :p

But a manly man who is secretly sweet is who i'd absolutely adore :p

can't they be a bit of both? my bf is a manly man, yet he can be very sweet. and why does it have to be those two extremes? there are different girl's who want more than just a manly man or a sweet guy.
I was going to make a 'both' category, but I hit enter and messed it up, u can blame that on me being a dummy.

Good point, but probably everyone in the poll would have just chosen that lol. Personally I drink excessive amounts and get in fights and lift heavy objects and all that shit, but I can still act cute with my gf and such.

Are you suggesting that I can't be both? I think that's bullshit. I'm a nice, manly man. You know, once you set aside my ambiguous sexuality.

Obvious answers are obvious: girls prefer guys that aren't one dimensional. The way this poll is portrayed is that guys need to be either doormats or door kickers. A woman respects a man who can be brave, steadfast and stoic in the face of adversity, but melts at the thought of her to an attentive, loving, poetic sweet heart. Not sure why this needs to be said. Pop culture nailed this awhile ago...

The Manly Man is based on physical attraction, whereas the Sweet Guy is an emotional one. Maybe you didn't instantly notice the sweet guy from across the room, but he's a treasure once you find him.

Unless he happens to be a sweet guy with a manly man's body. Let's just hope that never goes to his head.
