Certainly there are exceptions, but I find them to be rare, and so I feel that my point stands as much as any point can without proper testing.
Yes but you try getting a research grant for that.
People have gotten research grants for weirder things.
Researchers in Oz mostly get told to move to the US if they want money for things like researching, equipment, lab space, food, etc...
And all this time I thought Oz was fictional...

Reminds me of a guy I used to drink with... Most of the night you'd see him getting slapped, bollocked or having drinks thrown in his face but also he rarely failed to score. Sure, his win/loss ration (if you want to think of it like that) was around 1 in 50 but as long as he got that 1 he didn't care about the 50.

It is. I'm a figment of your imagination... which is a pretty damning indictment on your state of mind.

With that smiley on the end, that phrase of yours got to be really disturbing. Congrats. =D
I know, right? One of my fondest memories was when an ex invited me to go to church with him and his family. I wore a cotton sundress for the occasion and sat through it (being a Roman Catholic, I knew what to do at which times), and I noticed that he kept turning his head to look at me or peek at my thighs, expecting me to do something naughty with him during the sermon. My mistake was laughing like Jesse from Team Rocket when his family dropped me off.

No love for the chemical engineers? Our pipes give good head. And our men are manly, but not always assholes. :p

Right on.

Write this down, people. Jerks will only tell you about their conquests.

Gettin' sexy time when the Lord is watching. You can't get more public thrill than that, I guess.

You should put that as signature on your posts, seriously. That's just gold material. XD

P.S.: Yey for topic derailment. I'm stopping now.

so what your asking is why I think this is a false dichotomy, I don't know, because I've never been a douche bag, and I'd assume that douche bags would be the ones perpetuating the stereotype, in the end it's up to the individual person and not society to decide how they are going to represent themselves.
No, I'm not asking why you think it's a false dichotemy.

I'm asking why you think such false dichotemies exist and what purpose you think they serve.

I mean haven't you wondered why, when things like this crop up, there's invariably some binary choice of 'emotional doormat' vs 'complete douchenozzle'? Some variation of 'nice guys' versus 'bad boys' theme that often ends up as a platform for certain people to portray women as indecisive and/or deceitful if not outright batshit crazy?
so you want me to write a psychology/sociology paper for you?

no thanks, seriously you asked and what purpose do they serve? this isn't a final exam.

what I was saying is that the question the original poster asked is a false dichotomy, not even that in the real world is it necessraily represented, the original poster asked if women would rather have a manly man or someone who is caring and sensitive. That is a false dichotomy, an either or questions wiht no room in the middle, it's logical fallacy

My wife seems to think I do both pretty decently. I'm hairy and smelly but also know how to cook and do nice little things for her. Some middle ground does exist, and is probably the norm.

I'm not a lady, but EVERY girl I have ever asked has said they dislike manly men, they like cute guys. I think it's just the sluts that like manly men. Why do you think James Bond gets laid so much?
Your post is a double edged sword. James Bond, as a manly man, gets laid a lot. So he benefits, and the cute guys and nice guys like us lose out. But then, it's the sluts who Bond ends up with. So he loses out, on finding true love... (well, he did find true love in the rebooted films, then she died. So yeah.).

Anyhow, I'm a seet sensitive type of guy, who likes cooking and doesn't mind doing the housework. And can iron well too. No, I'm not gay.

(just for the record, that was a joke, I am not a homophobe)

But yeah, I'm that type of guy, yet girls only ever seem to like me as a friend, and every girl I know always goes for the 'manly man' type. And that pisses me off...

At least you're honest about it.

Now all you've got to do is accept it or do something about it.
