I am actually keen to try it out, but the eutopean f2p version has been delayed, so, alas, I cannot visit Middle Earth just yet.
If you start a trial account on the EU servers the toon won't get deleted when it goes over to F2P.
Ah, then I might try that. Not that I am in hurry though... Does the trial and the "normal" game use the same client?
Does it make much of a difference?
I just clicked the big download button on the main website, should I have looked for a different one?

I'm from Ireland.

The trial and normal clients should be exactly the same, but it does matter where you get the client from. If you get it from Turbine (lotro.com) you will be accessing the North American servers. If you get it from CodeMasters you will be accessing the Euro servers. You can't switch your client between server sets after the fact as they seem to be hard coded to connect to a certain set.

I can't; I have a mac! *prepares for apple-bashing* I really wish more games were hybrid-releases, like what Blizzard does.

Will it make much of a difference to me?

I'd imagine there'd be more English speakers on the North American one.

Anyone looking for specifically English speaking users would be best served by the North American servers, yes. :)

And if someone wants English but are more interested in Euro friendly time zones, the Elendilmir server is very Euro friendly.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. :)
