Only learned what they were on a thread on here (you know what one) and I think it's alright if it's not overdone.
Most are harmless jokes, from KILL IT WITH FIRE to the ORLY? owl. I don't see how they're problematic or anything. Also, I can bet you this thread is going to get locked. But I made this to say what I feel needs to be said and to get my point across in a fairly intellectual and non-inflammatory manner.sasquatch99 said:Only learned what they were on a thread on here (you know what one) and I think it's alright if it's not overdone.
I see wat u did thar. Older lolcats. Over 9000 when used right. Those spring to mind, but used wrong they can just be stupid. Those are the only ones I can think of right now.Akai Shizuku said:Fair enough. Which memes do you like?CoverYourHead said:Just voicing my opinion. Some of them might be funny, but I've lost interest, and the majority I see now are re-hashes or bad.Akai Shizuku said:Some of them are still funny. Touche, touche. You win 45 internets for your connoisseurship of the art of meme.CoverYourHead said:I see wat u did thar. Older lolcats. Over 9000 when used right. Oh, and I don't know if it counts as a meme, but engrish. All engrish.
Exactly. Memes are useful.Mozared said:I usually enjoy them. Some are just an alternative way of expressing a feeling. Try and explain the feeling you get when you reply "O'RLY?" to someone without saying "O'RLY?". Something like "Damn, you got me there" or "I don't believe it" gets closest but nothing really does the job.
That's a given for sure; too much of anything gets old fast.vivaldiscool said:I enjoy them in and of themselves. It's only when a thread gets drowned in them. It's not funny if you see it coming a mile off.
IT'S OVER 9000!!!! Did you have that in mind while posting or was it just Freudian?Cama Zots said:only before I've heard them over 9000 times. Then they tend to get annoying.
While the relative tolerance of memes is a discussion for a later time, the majority of probations/warnings occur when people use them in place of actual discussion and conversation, they fall under the rules concerning low content posting. A reply that consists of a lolcat adds to the discussion in the same way that a brick to the forehead facilitates analytical thinking.Akai Shizuku said:Most are harmless jokes, from KILL IT WITH FIRE to the ORLY? owl. Sometimes a meme can say something better than just words.Ultrajoe said:While the relative tolerance of memes is a discussion for a later time, the majority of probations/warnings occur when people use them in place of actual discussion and conversation, they fall under the rules concerning low content posting. Some memes are genuinely funny, but Rick Rolls need to be killed with fire.
Thank you kind sir, you get 10 free internets.Citrus Insanity said:I'll agree that you shouldn't have been put on probation for your post in that thread, but the mods here can be a bit overzealous. At least it was only probation.
Remember, however, that if said something is low on content and absent of relevance then how you say it is immaterial.Akai Shizuku said:Sometimes a meme can say something better than just words.
