Where's the "What are memes option"?

I am actually serious. Can anyone explain what memes are in this context?
A meme is any phrase or action that becomes popular and widespread. Just think of things that people post all the time like "do a barrel roll." Those are memes.

If used right, they are great fun. And some are great for baffling the fuck out of people, too, so that's extra points. I particularly like the really stupid ones, like "I accidentally 93MB of .rar files", "I think Halo is a pretty cool guy. eh kills aleins and doesnt afraid of anything", although the classic ones are also good fun, like "all your base", etc. However, I must admit that the one that makes me laugh the hardest is the one about Candlejack, especially if everybody does it with a

Memes should only be employed as a precision strike measures. Right meme in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world, but saturation bombing with memes is just plain stupid and annoying.

Sometimes a meme can say something better than just words.
Remember, however, that if said something is low on content and absent of relevance then how you say it is immaterial.
Can't disagree with you there.

I enjoy memes. They are what give the internet its own "personality." It's like cliques at school; the internet has created a group of people who act and sound different then everyone else. And I'm happy to be a part of that community.
I think you bring up a very crucial point which needs to be addressed more often, and one I should have picked up on when making this thread.

Rather indifferent, possibly leaning towards dislike of them. I think the word 'meh' describes my feelings quite well.
So you would call them MEHMES? HAHA! that joke was lame.

I kind of like them myself.

only before I've heard them over 9000 times. Then they tend to get annoying.
IT'S OVER 9000!!!! Did you have that in mind while posting or was it just Freudian?

Some memes are genuinely funny, but Rick Rolls need to be killed with fire.
I don't mind Rick Rolls, just because I actually really like the song "Never Gonna Give You Up," so it doesn't bother me to hear a song I like.

Well, I don't hate memes, but whenever I say something I THOUGHT was original half the time someone accuses me of quoting memes(whether they are right or not). And of course when people say the same thing OVER AND OVER again it loses its hilarity.

I'm leaning towards dislike of memes, some are funny, some are mind-searingly annoying, like Chuck Norris and Over 9000, most of the others I'm just apathetic about, and a few I find are gems that never get old to me.

Memes are just language really, it's just accelerated evolution of language just like any other slang. And just like all other slang, when used effectively, memes can be great - but usually they're just used in a juvenile and boring manner by immature people trying to be tough.

That's the stickler though. The main attraction of many meme (not all, obviously) is to Succinctly express the ineffabile. And of course that leaves it open to subjectivity. Even if it was posted with sufficient insight as to the point at hand. A cynical moderator would likely take it at face value.
