I'm not really sure what qualitative scale we're measuring this on.

Old weapons don't include Nuclear Bombs, and, therefore, don't carry with them the threat of complete obliteration, so, I'll go for those.

I'd say it's the other way around. From weapons that use sound or electricity, or guns that can shoot around corners, or robotic snake bombs, today's weapons are far more creative.

New weapons are more practical. But old ones are o-so-intimidating. I'd fear a guy with a good arsenal of swords, and who looks like he can use them, more than one with a pistol or a rifle.

And a pierced body gives a bigger statement than a shot one.
