You see Loads of people prancing about forums and such making a big uproar about the fact t hat a kitten was burnt in an oven or such.as much as i hate the idea of this, my complaint is the fact that it is these people who eat truckloads of chicken everyday...

Their most common argument is that "Cats are not meant for eating".so tell me this...how come cats are in this category but cows, pigs and chickens are not??they eat dogs in Thailand, and i dont see a lot of uproar on this...kids in American neighborhoods beat up little kittens in a bag pretty often i hear form my cousin there, no uproar.

for those who dont know, a cow is killed by running a huge nail through its skull??and a chicken is killed by cutting its throat and letting it bleed to its death??wheres the "Humanity" in that??If you dont believe me check out the wiki on slaughterhouses :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slaughterhouse#Process

Also when vegetarian food is in plenty, and tastes like chicken if prepared the right way, i dont get why more people arnt turning veg...please non veggies, enlighten me.

Cat's and Dog's in the Western world are bred for the purpose of being companions for humans.

Chickens, Cows and Pigs are bred for the purpose of Eggs, Milk and Meat.

Killing a defenceless animal for the sick pleasure of it is incomparable to killing an animal for it's meat.

Having a spike shoved through your skull is also much less cruel than consciously feeling your body burn to cinders.

Because I don't care about the food preparation. If the person had actually put the cat into the oven TO EAT IT, I'd be fine with that. Yet it seems that the cat was just stuck in there for the hell of it.
As for the cows and chickens: so? Why do we need to be humane? I'd just have two giant rotating blades at neck level for the cows and chickens if I had it my way.
And I don't like the idea of being vegetarian.

This. The dogs they eat in the eastern part of the world are bred to be eaton, and are not the huggable loving dogs that we have in the west.

Cats are made for eating.
Only problem is kittens are damn cute and it wasn't going to be eaten. It was killed for fun. That's wrong.

I don't turn veggie, because I like meat, believe it or not. Only meat I won't touch is endangered / diseased stuff. I even have a recipe for Dog I want to try out, and I'm pretty sure I will when I go to China next year.

Also a lot of veggies are up they're own arse about it and try to convert us. Or they're fucking idiots who go vegetarian because they like the cute animals like sheep and don't want to eat them.

And don't get me started on the idiots who say they're vegetarian but still eat fish...

The cat being burned alive in an oven has nothing to do with us humans using different species for different purposes. It's simply a grueling case of animal cruelty, same counts for little kids in American neighborhoods beating up cats in bags, that's animal cruelty as well, and deserves more uproar (or at least punishments). This whole story has nothing to do with eating certain animals and not eating others. Your comparison fails.

Chickens' throats aren't cut, their heads are chopped off. They die instantly.
Cows get a bolt shot through their skull, this is also almost painless. Ever shot yourself in the head? No? Well, you're dead before your brain registers the pain on your skin and bone (the brain itself has no pain receptors).
EDIT: Wait, I was wrong, cows are anesthesized that way. No matter. It's still far less cruel than burning an animal alive.

So, these methods of killing are not that bad.
What this weird chick did was burn an animal alive, without any form of anesthesia and no purpose whatsoever.

I am not against the killing of animals, I'm just opposed to killing animals in a cruel fashion. And burning an animal alive is cruel!

I don't care what kind of animal it is that is killed. Dogs are eaten in China, I couldn't care less as long as they're killed in a quick and painless fashion.

well what would you feel like if i were to tell you that there are babies that have been bred for eating in some part of the world?im not up my own ass for being a veggie,i just want to know what it is that is the difference between a dead chicken and a dead cat.

and how would u differentiate between a dog bred for eating a nd one bred for love and care?

Ill show you the difference using a line on the link that you posted:

"Cattle are rendered unconscious by applying an electric shock of 300 volts and 2 amps to the back of the head, effectively stunning the animal,[8] or by use of a captive bolt pistol to the front of the cow's head (a pneumatic or cartridge-fired captive bolt). Swine can be rendered unconscious by CO2/inert gas stunning

Its a lot different to be killed while unconscious than be roasted alive.

Veggie myself, but bad idea vegetarianismis kind of like religious thing but your aloud to flame it without getting banned so its best to just expect lost causes and move on.

And yea, quorn(the veggie friendly meat I eat)is awesome I have 5 out of 7 days a week.I have actually had to make sure I get enough fat since turning veggie,I don't understand why people whom want to lose weight would'nt adpot it(and some do).

I am by no means trying to start a flame

If both the dead cat and dead chicken were tortured to death for no apperant reason, it would be equally bad. You're just comparing 2 completely different things here, the case of the cat was plain animal cruelty and has nothing to do with eating other animals.

and how would u differentiate between a dog bred for eating a nd one bred for love and care?
It's a matter of culture, we use dogs for companionship and helpers (for various things, from taking care of blind folk to hunting). Their culture is different from ours. And how you would see that difference, well it wouldn't be socialised, I wouldn't try to pet it.

No. I am not a vegetable.
Nor am I a vegetarian. Refer to Figure 1-1: The Food Chain. Slaughterhouses are designed for efficiency. Sure, they don't peacefully fall asleep while listening to Mozart, but they're not trying to make them suffer, either. I would object just the same to someone needlessly beating cows and chickens with a bat as I do kitten and puppy abuse.
Humans are omnivores - just look at your teeth. We function best on a combination of meat and plants.
Besides, how do you know vegetables don't feel pain when you rip them out of the ground?

There is no difference between eating a dead chicken and a dead cat. As said before, there is a difference in HOW they are killed.
As for the dogs: if it fetches, keep it. If not, eat it. Problem solved.
And those babies sound delicious. Where is this?
