If given the choice I tend to make Y-inverted and keep X-normal. Just find it easier that way.
Wait, has there ever been a control scheme that inverted X? I just couldn't picture it. Well, maybe lefty-flip in GH/RB.
I think I've come across some third person games where the camera control could be standard or flipped in the horizontal (or maybe it was just forced on you). "When you push left, do you want to look left (resulting in the camera moving right), or move the camera left (resulting in looking right)?" Okami might be an example.

Inverted, I forget which game it was that caused me to change to inverted on everything, but it's how I play now. Maybe I just think the people I'm controlling are like planes

I'm barely coordinated with normal, me playing inverted looks like a monkey is having a seizure on the controller.

The old N64 games had inverted control schemes sucha s for Pokemon Snap, Star Fox 64, and Goldeneye 007 so I was inverted back then. But obviously today thanks to shooters like Halo and CoD 4 I always play normal.

For FPS and TPS I use normal. For platformer type games I sometimes use inverted, but I voted normal because I play shooters alot more.

Normal, the point of controls is to CONTROL the movement accurately. Not confuse the hell out of people.

When playing a game and are given a choice, which camera-control type do you use. I personally use normal because inverted fells backwards to me.
I used to be like that because I associated moving up with looking up. Then I played a game which had inverted on by default and it felt more natural to me (once you realise your head tips backwards to look up and forwards to look down).

Ever since then I use Inverted.

Normal. Whatever floats your boat, but really, how can, "Up is up, down is down" not be easier? I won't knock it if you like it, but personally, being offered inverted controls is like being offered the option of reading a book all in caps with no punctuation. It just muddles things for absolutely no reason.
Actually, that's a very poor choice of an analogy. Rather, inverted controls is more like a manga comic that reads "backwards." A book with no punctuation and all capitals actually greatly affects the sheer mechanics of functionality in comprehension. Inverted controls, just like a manga layout, simply depends on what you're used to.
I still stick by my analogy, since inverted controls requires me to put forth effort into thinking wrong, and it changed the game from quick reflexes to planning out your movements in a counter-intuitive way. Again, that's just my perspective. Inversion turns a game into a chore for me.

Also, the manga flopping does cange the way the comic works a bit. Im not a purist who refuses to read Americanized manga, but if you can handle reading the opposite way, the Aestetics are slightly improved.
It's less confusing for you, and you have to plan your actions when things are inverted. People play the way that feels natural to them, and playing the opposite way feels awkward. Your argument is equivalent to telling all lefties that they should be righties because you have difficulty doing everything with your left hand.
