No this is not a flame thread so before the accusations come rolling in hear me out. I just recently got L4D for the Xbox 360 and I already on it from Steam (I got both because some of my friends have the pc version and some have console), and I must say that now the term console tard seems less of an insult and more of an appropriate description.

I have played medium and advanced games on both versions and the pc players use much more advanced tactics and generally plan things out more, the console player generally has no idea of corner defense, exploits of design (Ai inability to climb certain areas and the fact that players phase through each other), or any kind of decent hold out area for panic or crescendo moments.

The console player on average also tends to be even worse than the pc griefer (I just played a versus game where two of my teammates simply sat on a roof in no mercy rather than attack them in the apartments...in fact they stared at each other the entire time) with an inability or lack of willingness to communicate with teammates (many don't have or use a mic), will purposely ignore calls for help or aid of any kind, and will generally not even voice where they find things or work with any strategy that is not their own (this leads to the team generally being spread out all over the map or never exploring outside of the areas you must go by where items spawn).

I am not saying all console players are this way I have found a few good and even great teams in with the crap, but that is the problem these teams are few and far between whereas in the PC version teams that are of this quality at least seem a dime a dozen (I have many steam friends who are good players from this game whereas I have to have a good chunk of brain matter missing before this happens with XBL for some reason).

To any console players out there, have you experienced this as well or am I just imagining things? Why can't other players not seem to grasp simple strategies that are freely available from the internet? Why in the hell do so many people not have any kind of mic for a team based game? Lastly, why is it that so many other players seem to be complete dicks unwilling to work with any strategy not their own?

I have my own ideas why this is (console players are generally morons) but I want to hear from people who actually do these things, agree with them, or are forced to suffer through them as well.

[Edit/add on] Why in the hell is it also that I seem to usually be carrying my team to any kind of victory, AND WHY IN THE HELL DID I HAVE TO GUIDE A TEAMMATE THROUGH THE WINDOW AT THE BRIDGE ON BLOOD HARVEST?

Last but not least WHY IN THE FUCK DID MY TEAMMATES THROW MOLOTOVS AT POINT BLANK RANGE?

I play on both but I don't have any of the issues you're talking about. Then again, I make a point of not playing with random people anyways. I'll stick to gaming with my friends, thanks.

You're not imagining things... I play L4D on XBL & when I'm not playing with friends it can take a while to find a decent lobby. Even then it's pot luck whether they're any good.

Well I don't play L4D at all, but I do play some team based games on PC but do not have a mic. I mean the type in team chat works fine if you ask me. You also tend to get console tards on Quakelive when playing CTF, because everybody except me and maybe one person is on offense all the time

I only play on PC, but I have seen my fair share of Noobishness there. I usualy end up yelling "Quit playing Rambo and get back on the firing line!" a lot.

You have a good position to judge the merrits of console and PC since you own both version, but I still think this thread will go down in flame war.

Most of the things you say are not down to it being on a console or PC, EVERYTHING has idiots on them, just because you get unlucky on Xbox Live doesn't make what you say a "Con", Rather's a small inconvenience, that if made a con would seem very petty.

I use both and there both the same in my opinion, i haven't seen any difference, i have never "phased through" an ally, nor do PC use tactics while Xbox has a majority who do not,and so far i have not experienced faults with the AI, maybe I'm just lucky on both PC and Console that i avoid the morons on nearly every occasion but if there's one thing i hate its a PC snob.

I use Console because i think its easier to fire etcetera.

EDIT: and to your edit, because people are idiots, like to mess around, are new to the game or have a poor connection.

I don't play L4D (question of money, really. I'd love to play) but I do play Team Fortress 2 on the PC. While having some friends who play or a server that you know is usually over 80% filled with people who work as a team and communicate and overall know how to play the game.

I did play twice on the 360 and found the players there were... less good, to put it mildly. The only use of the microphone was to crack jokes about other players' mothers, no one worked as a team, the engineers never built trasnporters, the pyros ran all the time, the scouts didn't cap points, all that. In the PC, I'd be playing spy, and my team would say "OK, we're all right outside. Plant the sapper and let us know." while the folks in the console tried to be individually the best, even if it hurt the team overall.

That, and the notion that FPS on consoles are a watered-down, lifeless and totally unintuitive experience.

I pub stomp often with my "crew." Though, we act on a strict code of video game ethics. We never gloat or rub it in if we are in the lead and we refuse to use cheap locations as survivors like under pipes in certain warehouses or shiva-stacking.

Because people are dicks, and do it for the lols.
I have to say that I was not too fond of playing online on the 360 because people would just run in, get themselves swarmed and when we saved them they'd do it all over again.

That depends on the situation. Sometimes its better to take a small amount of burn damage than a large amount of horde damage.

I currently play on my Xbox, but I'm looking into getting a better laptop.
Then I'd consider buying the TF2, Half-Life and L4D pack they have :)

I own it on PC but have played it plenty on both.

I've noticed what you describe as well. I think the difference stems from this: the average 360 player is much younger than the average PC player.

A great number of PC L4D players will be playing on their own computer, the extra cost/complication of a pc partly ensures a more intelligent or at least commited type of player.
By contrast a lot of Live players will be young teens/preteens who have had the console and game bought for them as gifts. It's a much less involved process to get into playing on the consoles so a lot of people are playing who wouldn't otherwise be able/bothered to do it on PC. PC players tend to be older in my exerience too (18+ vs 12-mid 20's).

I also think that it's easier to be punished on the Pc vresion, if you have admin powers it's very quick to kick/ban someone who's being a dick, as a result such behavior gets punished much faster than on Live.

It's my observations rather than fact, but I still think it's a fairly accurate explanation.

I tend to play the console version of Left 4 dead and in the group of friends i play with we almost never have tactical issues unless some rather large tank comes along on expert and all we have left are pistols. Though some of the people i have joined randomly that have no mic's have done some of the things you have talked about but that was just purely because of a lack of comunictation.

Well, the 360 at the least costs about $200. A decent gaming rig can cost above $1,000. The reason behind this is because 99% of the people you talked about are children that can't get the money for a gaming rig.

To me, it goes like this.

The older the person is = more maturity.

Age + Maturity = Better chance at landing a job.

Age + maturity + better chance at landing a job = more money

Age + maturity + better chance at landing a job + more money = Able to obtain a gaming rig

Age + maturity + better chance at landing a job + more money = obtaining a gaming rig = less pc griefers.

It also goes the other way around.

Younger = less maturity

younger + less maturity = less chance at getting a job.

Younger + less maturity + no chance for job = less money

Younger + less maturity + no chance for job + less money = them settling for a console

Younger + less maturity + no job + + less money them settling for a console = less PC griefers, more console griefers.

I hear ya. I have played 360 games online; no connection in the teams. On PC games (such as L4D) there is great communication. I love L4D just cause it's such great teamwork. Not like in Halo 3 and similar games, where the rule is "every man for himself".

Why would you want to play any game on the 360 or any console, if it is out on the PC? Everyone on the 360 seems like they are all little kids, or they woke up too early and are REALLY mad.

And PC is WAYYYYY better cause a mouse and keyboard offer alot more advanced options, and such...

Also, to you people who say gaming computers cost alot, think, PC games are like 20$ and 360 games are 60$... Think of how many games you buy, then after a while the 360 will cost more than the PC. (Then again I am in charge of our family business... So I get to decide how much money I get..... Which could be how I have so much crap)

I got it for the Xbox 360 because STEAM planned on making a second copy to play Co-op. I think not.

I play on PC, but I'm pretty sure that there is a lack of common sense on both PC and 360. Either people are just idiots or they choose to be.
