But you do have to take them out and play with them, and you should always have more than one. They are intensely social and if they don't have another rat to play with, they get overtly depressed. I had two rats, Sophie and Dolly, and when Sophie died it took me a few months to get another couple of rats. In that time frame, poor Dolly was so miserable. And she didn't have anyone to help her groom the back of her neck where she couldn't reach, so she was very itchy. Now Dolly is getting older (1 1/2 years old) and the new ones are hyperactive youngsters who pounce on her all the time, so I think she still really misses Sophie, but for very different reasons.Dancingman said:Its actually quite fun, they are personable and make good petsFrizzle said:I've had birds and dogs. Cockateils are soooooo annoying. They chirp all the time. Dogs are my favorite so far, by a long shot. I wonder how having rats would be, though. That sounds interesting....

I don't squeeze too hard when I give them huggles... I have scars to prove that I learned that lesson.4thegreatergood said:That has to be painful for the cats.xitel said:I have 6 kitties, and I love them all to death!

It's true too. I actually do have scars from huggling my kitties too tight.4thegreatergood said:That's a good one, xitel.xitel said:I don't squeeze too hard when I give them huggles...
