Today, I was playing Combat Arms on Elimination and I took some dude's gun. He then started to complain the I was a "noob" and "poor because I couldn't afford a gun". I started thinking, why put the ability to pick up guns if people will complain. So people of the Escapist, what do you think?

I don't think he's at range to call you a noob if he had a better gun than yours, and you still killed him and took his gun.

Anyway picking up guns after dead people isn't bad, Recycling makes the world go 'round.

I don't understand how you're the noob when you have killed him when he had the gun in the first place, and you then took it for the reward?

Ignore them.

While I have not played the game in question, I have always and shall continue to be of the opinion that if it is an ITEM YOU CAN USE and your virtual foe HAS ONE WHEN THEY DIE, then you should ALWAYS have the option to PICK IT UP

Hey, he died and he had no last will and testament, therefore the gun is up for grabs.

You really shouldn't listen to the people online - it's bad for your mental health.
This is excellent advice.
I had some guy tell me to shuttup last night on XBL...and I wasn't even talking.
And I said 'I didn't say anything' and he said 'I don't care. Shuttup.'
So I muted him.

But to bring this full circle: Who cares what the guy said? Take his gun and shoot him with it.

as the jackal from FC2 said guns are recycled, only the dead decompose.

so no he had no right in calling you a n00b. i say kill and loot, kill and loot.

I'm going to guess you pressed 'Post' early?
I'll guess what you're about to put, and yes they put the feature in for you to use, so go ahead and use it.
I don't understand how you're the noob when you have killed him, when he had the gun in the first place, and you then took it for the reward? Even if that didn't matter, in a real combat scenario a gun isn't going to combust because the original owner died and your hands are slabs of meat, so just go pick up the gun and play it like your Arnie.
What are you talking about?

I wish you could sneak up on people in TF2 as the spy (Or fps's generally) and disarm them Ezio style and shoot them in the face before dropping the gun and walking off normally to hire some courtesans.

I am pretty sure in some wars the soldiers ditched their own weapons in favour of the enemies for reliability reasons. If I recall in Vietnam, American soldiers threw away their M-16 rifles and used AK-47s from dead Vietnamese soldiers.

And according to Mikhail Kalashnikov in 2006, soldiers in Iraq were using using AK-47s in preference to the standard-issue M-16...

So I guess it happens in real life, so why not in a game?

Guy who antagonized you is a fucktard.

I take guns whenever I want them in MW2. See:Akimbo G18s or Akimbo 1887s. Or whenever I'm in Domination and I can't die and regain full ammo.

I always take the better guns from my enemy in GoW2. If you've ever played a prolonged match of Warzone on GoW games you realize that if you're pinned or need stealth (because a message flashes saying GT took Weapon X if you pick up game spawned weaponry) it's better to steal the guns or ammo.

yes i think picking up guns is a fantastic tactic especially in call of duty waw when your usin a low leveled gun on a map with people who are 18 times better than you (that was a depressing match)

what annoys me is in dark sector (pretty good game actually)

the enemy weapons have an infection sensor on them (you are infected btw)

which makes them disentagrate...yes disentagrate within about thirty seconds of you picking them up....and while you have your bladed throwing disk (the glaive) it is still a pain trying to kill a room full of armour soldiers with shotguns whitout a gun

Absolutely. It actually annoys me when a game doesn't let you do this. I realise it's done mostly for balance reasons (especially in singleplayer games), but it's still irritating nevertheless that I'm stuck with a pistol or something and unable to pick up the assault rifles of the enemy mooks I've just mowed down.

Also, I wouldn't pay any attention to the majority of people in competitive online games (especially in an FPS). I always find it hilarious that they manage to accuse people that have just killed them of being "noobs" without seeing anything ironic about that.

I steal people's guns in MW2. I'm level 12, if a level 70 guy drops his gun... I'm going to fucking take it!

That gatling gun towards the end lets you use it nonstop. And also... you can buy guns in that game.
Did you find a vendor in the manholes? He sells you guns!
