One of the things I take a hard-line stance on as a teacher (yeah, I'm a teacher) is that I will never, ever participate in a candy fundraiser. It's one thing for people to order a tin of mints from a Christmas catalog, and wait a month for it to arrive... but it's another when it's a "Here's a dollar--Here's your candy bar" situation.
Candy tastes good. And it's easy. And so, when you present it to people (especially kids), they'll generally go for it. And then as teachers, we're trying to encourage kids to eat healthier.... but then many schools turn around and sell candy bars to make money, because we KNOW the kids will buy it. At some point, you've got to call it dirty money.
Kudos to you for quitting candy. I earnestly hope you stick with it. For the first couple weeks, it's going to SUCK--sugar/caffeine withdrawal, and just facing up to the fact that crap-snacks are more CONVENIENT.
I might recommend (and this will sound goofy) going with stuff like Fiber One bars. Yeah, yeah, they're for old people... but seriously, they're pretty damn good. And they're low calorie, and the fiber makes you feel fuller for longer (plus most of us probably don't get enough of it anyway). They make good snacks, and they eat like junk food... without as much junk.
