I thought Resident Evil 4 was pretty good. My only complaint was that I had to escort that whining girl around the place. But it was a fun game so I thought 'what the hell, I'm sure they'll fix this in the sequel' and instead they lumber me with some useless woman for the whole game rather than just tiny sections.

Never in the history of computer games have escort missions been fun, ever. The AI just isn't good enough yet. Surely developers must realise that it's just plain irritating that I'm expected to babysit another character or defend a vulnerable building/objective from enemy hordes while simultaneously defending myself.

I dont mind multitasking in a game but I've yet to have a developer meet me halfway by providing my ally with enough common sense not to sprint towards danger armed only with a pistol and no ammo.

There is nothing worse than dying at a certain part in a game over and over and over again, except when you manage to get through the difficult part and just as your starting to relax your retarded AI 'partner' gets herself/himself/itself killed and you have to play through the whole sodding section again...

Fallout does this to me as well. Fallout 3 has kamikaze NPCs who go out of their way to get killed - dogmeat in particular. This is a step BACKWARDS from Fallout 2 where I could at least program my allies to retreat if they were injured. ARGH!

Considering 4 was miles better in every aspect (except texture resolutions and high dynamic range lighting), that one by far.

~Likes of RE4: Longer gameplay and Hunk in mercinaries mode, and the cases for all your crap. ~Dislikes:Ashley...
~Likes of RE5: Co-op, interesting weapons, fairly decent levels.
~Dislikes: Short and seemed like a RE4 clone, and AI control of Sheva or Chris is dumb as a box or rocks (and thats giving the rocks some credit)

Wesker is bad ass
I think they've gone too far with Wesker...actually it isnt even Wesker that's annoying me so much as the way that Resident Evil's art director has decided that every single fight depicted in a cut scene has to turn into matrix style wire-fu bullet time nonsense.

Just have someone punch someone else in the face intead of all this dancing around malarkey. Sigh.

RE4 for me. The only time I had a good time with 5 was this:

Me and my friend got to the boss fight where you have to tear that thing off Jill's chest. After about 10 minutes of trying to talk her out of her crazed/spider lady mind set, I whipped out the shotgun and shot her. She died, Mission Feheld. My friend looks at me

"Dude, WTF? You shot Jill!"

"The ***** was crazy! You all saw it! I ain't got patience for that shit. Runnin' up and down the walls, hissin' at me. That's not how Chris' hoes roll, I had to check that ***** back in line.... It just backfired that's all."

And I don't regret my actions.

A lot of people seem to have issues with RE5 that are either not issues for me at all, or seem to be just parroted back from reviews.

Honestly, I find RE5 to play exactly the same, except its got co-op, more game modes, more guns, more bosses...

I'd probably have to give it up to 5 for the co-op fun.

i prefer 4 myself because for me there was more of a sense of helplessness because you fight solo. i wanna see a next gen title with claire redfield at least starring in it because shes the only character that isnt "next gen" yet in the series.
Degeneration?
Unless you mean game-wise, but I think they're wrapped Claire's story up now.

I liked 4, but Ashley did my nut in.
I prefer 5 because of the co-op game play, but I find the game a little cheesy.

In terms of gameplay, RE5 is better then RE4 with a friend, but is worse on solo. The co-op system works well, and feels much less gimmicky then most co-op games, like Army of Two or Gears of War. I normally hate co-op, because the story modes are usually fun by myself, and if i'm with friends, I prefer a standard multiplayer match. But RE5 was different. It was fun playing along side a buddy over spring break(which we spent all week playing). Even the arguments were funny when one of us caused the other too fail. In other games, causing someone too fail just makes me angry rather then comedic. When I played the demo, I thought I would hate the inventory system, but once I got used too it, it was fine. However, on solo, the AI is so stupid, it makes professional mode feel impossible even with infinite ammo weapons.

In terms of narrative, RE4 all the way since RE5 has a mental illness half way though. Plus Resident Evil is suppost to be a horror series. Many will say that the horror died with RE4, but i'm a scardy cat. RE4 had some pretty scary moments, and was the most scary game I played all the way though with chickening out. However, I can say with no doubt in my mind that RE5 was not scary at all. Not a single moment of fright.

I'm enjoying RE5 the more I play it. Though the inventory still annoys me.

RE4 was just a stronger game.

Re 4 was way better in my opinon. At least in Re4 it was challange. When me and my brother played we beat the game on the hardest diffculty with no problems. Yes I understand that the game is a lot harder with the AI but why not use Co-op if it is there.

RE4. It was longer, had better boss battles, had a SLIGHTLY better story, it was revolutionary, and it didn't have your fucking partner!

I was secretly hoping that just after the release, Capcom would announce DLC that would eliminate the necessity of a partner in single player, or at the very least allow you to command your partner using a very basic version of the tactical system similar to the one used in Rainbow Six or another tactical ops game. No dice.

RE4 was better, no question. One of the best games ever, period.

Do I have a co-op partner for 5?
If you play as the woman, can get past my Scottish accent and have an Xbox 360 we could work something out.

That's absolutely fine, boyo. I just think they should stop ripping off the matrix is all.
