I think I heard somewhere that most people choose "Rock" to start with because the closed fist is a subconscience sign of power. Probably bogus but interesting enough.

For no reason as far as I can make out, I usually go for paper first.

Any budding psychology students want to explain our answers to us?
Because people have perceived success with one of three. So if you win with a scissors, you are much more likely to use scissors again later, in a completely different game. You subconsciously associate winning with one of the three, and thus, use it more/first.

That would be my guess (as a budding psych student) but I have no physical evidence to back it up, just a theory.

Now that you've made me stop and think about it, I think I've always started with scissors...
Everyone starts with scissors, that knowledge helps me win every first time.

I pick rock because it is resolute and unmovable. I pick rock every time, without fail.
I seldom lose.

Paper wins. I chose paper. Therefore, I win.

Haha. It must be the colour association psychology behind the white page of the board.

Dynamite with a cuttable wick is a better choice than paper, it actually hurts rock. But I usually go with rock, and then scissors.

Scissors. Rock had its time in the sun so alot of people went with paper to counter it making it the new metagame. So taking scissors puts you one step ahead. The real strategy comes to the second move where you both chose the same thing, you can either:
1) Pick what beats the move you last made in hope that they are too lazy to change.
2) Pick what loses against the move you last made so you can beat the guys that are always one move behind.
3)Pick the same move because anyone that overthinks their game will fall for it.

I only use rock.
And everyone I've ever played Rock Paper Scissors with knows it.
Because I usually rant on about how no paper could cover a rock... I think I give it away.

I used to use scissors, but a friend of mine figured that out and would always start with rock and beat me. So I started using paper to beat him. He hasn't figured it out yet.

Ah, but you are forgetting one thing.

Unless you go up against cockroach. Then the cockroach prevails.

Also, a friend of mine and I invented a musical version. Rock (metal horns) vs. jazz (jazz hands) vs. classical (pretend to conduct with your fingers). Rock beats jazz, jazz beats classical, classical beats rock.

Fun times, let me tell you.

Ok then, Nuke teamed up with Bug Spray.
If your opponent bitches about it being "Unfair" well.. A nuke just went off.. He's dead..
Unless they're a cockroach themselves, then thats just awkward.

There is no lizard, not even in the massive version. Here is a picture of the massive version.

Edit: Also, the below.

Second Edit: Mr.Tea has the even more advanced version (it's farther up the page), however, it doesn't seem as balanced as the one I posted. I only glanced, so if someone has actually sat there and determined if Mr.Tea's version is balanced, please tell me, as I am interested to know, but am far too lazy to sit there and figure it out.

Scissors, all the way. It doesn't really help that I usually have scissors on hand, either...
