While in theory a GED is exactly the same as a deploma, it really doesn't translate well. Future employers would find you much more marketable if you have finished high school regardless of if you want to stay in the military or not. You won't regret staying after it is over.

Sorry again for my spelling be the way I was just sorta writting this in a rush and didn't do any spell checks.
Yeah that alone should decide it for you: Stay in school.

Life is short. But there's still time to make sure that what you suggest IS your dream. Hold out a little longer. You indecision suggests you have some reservations. And the military is not going anywhere and always looking for new recruits.

Stay in High School. You might not learn much in classes, but you learn a lot of life in general. Algebra is nothing. A lot of jobs don't require high school maths, just basic facts pretty much. A lot of people hated High School education including me, but toughing it out until the very end feels really good and it may feel like everything sucks in class, but things should get better

math is easy and fun, I don't see why everyone hates it.
Basic facts: Easy.
Complicated calculus equations and balancing chemical equations: Not easy
Advanced algebra: Tedious to the point of wanting to fellate the barrel of a gun.

There's little to no point at all in taking maths unless your future career requires it.

I'm in the math department in university, my final year. Just cause YOU don't find it easy and fun, doesn't mean I don't.

OK fair enough, but what I was pointing out is that the guy who made the post DOESN'T enjoy maths obviously, therefore it shouldn't really be too much of a problem for him if he drops maths.

By gods sake stay in school boy.
Kick y'eselves in the arse and you can do it.
I myself never ever understood math. i had a hell of a time getting through it, but somehow i managed to. I didnt have a good mark , but i passed. My other marks were ok to good, and now i'm happily studying at university.
As long as you have any perspective and still can try another approach, don't throw yourself away into a deadend like military.
(with capitalized "dead-" in our times now)

Stay in school for god's sake. At least just in case you hate the military and want a decent job otherwise.

If what you are doing is free, and it's a matter of time...why not?

I mean, staying in High School, regardless of your grades, will increase your chances at getting into pretty much anything. By dropping out you hinder your chances unnecessarily; what would you do once you came out of the Reserves, for example? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to retire at a rather early age? Before you're actually considered a 'pensioner'?

I find it nothing near easy (or fun, but that's beside the point). Algebra is the only class that I've ever failed more than once. Sob.

Don't suppose I could convince you to help me with my homework?

OT: Stay. In. School. I cannot stress that enough.

My older brother and I both graduated from high school. Our younger brother did not, and as such it has been nothing but a pain in the ass for him to get his GED.

So here is my story
Finish high school.

* Some parts of the armed forces (generally the more interesting parts) in many countries do require a certain level of high school skills. Advancement in army ranks may also be easier with good grades. Believe it or not.
This is one of the things I was thinking. If you were to stay in the Navy because of a fall out in the politics, I'm fairly sure to make a career out of the Navy there might be some education requirements. As to BonsaiK's second point, I know in the Australian army it is easier to get into some of the extended courses/specialisation such as linguistics/communication if you have a better education.

I would personally just tough out the rest of high school, you're nearly 18 now? Surely there can't be much left of it. (I have no idea how American high school works)

If you really can't take school anymore, then just quit it. It's easy for people to say "omg it's only one year you can finish it" but they haven't been there. What you want to do in your life should come first and if staying in school is just getting you depressed, then what's the point of staying?

That said, if you're more or less indifferent, you might as well finish it.

If you drop highschool for the reserves, I will lose all respect for you. After graduating, then I could possibly understand. But before is just stupid.

But I guess it's really your choice, seeing as respect from a total stranger is completely irrelevant.

Don't make any rash decisions. You are better off finishing high-school first. You may end up regretting it in later life if you quit now.

I'm a college drop-out. And I'm glad I dropped out. And I still think it was a great idea to finish high school. And besides, if you start a career in politics you'll get more voters if it's impossible for your opponents to say "he hasn't even finished high-school!"

Stay in school, the army's the only branch of the U.S. military that takes high school drop outs anyway.
