The PS2 is awesome, but $150 (£108) seems too much.
Over here in the UK, PS2's are only £80, which is a great price.
You know your paying too much for something when your paying more than the British

Oh god then my country is all wrong..cause the only thing cheap in Portugal is Alcohol and Smokes...which is the exact opposite of...most countries...

you make a very good argument but all im saying is that i dont think they have the money to pump out anouther system and this one has yet to even come close to its climax. no offence.

PS3 is overpriced as hell, and isn't backwards compatable (i dont think....). I got my PS2 a few months ago. Countless games are available for it, many are fantastic.
I sugguest Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 if you are into that kind of thing.

Very yes, aside from the sheerly massive amount of great games that have already been mentioned (Jak and dax, sly, ect) It's got such a huge library of games, that you'll be finding new great series too play on it for a long time.

$150 Seems abit steep though, I'm sure you could find it for less.

The best games for PS2 are God of War 1 and 2, all the GTA games for PS2 and a lot lot lot more I can't think of right now.
Also - hell no it's not worth it. I bought me a PS2 last year and while it's a great console with plenty of great games it's just not worth buying a PS2 when you can buy yourself a better console like the PS3 and still play the games you mentioned...

Not all PS3's play PS2 games.
Especially if he gets a brand new one

Yes and no. I got a cheap one off a flea market for $20-40. Problems with those is of they work or to what extent they do. But other than that, what he said:

the PS2 is a pretty essential system and if you don't have one, you missed the largest game library of the previous console generation.

although the GameCube definitely had a few sweet games.

I guess that depends if you are currently living into the year 2001. If yes, then you should absolutly get it.
