The search bar sort of approves, I didn't see this as a poll thread so.

I've been thinking about this lately, and I myself think it's okay to occasionally skip school - but what you have to do is then take responsibility for your actions. If you can cope with the consequences, then I think you can skip school if you feel it necessary. If you can't however, I think you probably shouldn't, since you're obviously just messing stuff up for yourself.

But there's a lot of factors that come into the decision of skipping school or not.
<spoiler=I skipped school this friday, the last day, because>The assignment we were supposed to do I was already done with, and I had recently been in an argument with a really thickheaded, irresponsible and respectless twat in my class that I did not want to see at the last day of school because he pissed me off so much. So what I did was I met up with one of my good friends, we went to his place, I cuddled with his lovely pets, we played some Minecraft, then we ate lunch at Subway, I met another of my friends there by coincidence, then we met up with our friend, bought tons of coke and chips, went to his place and had a sleepover, playing loads of Half-Life 2 and Minecraft. We ate the leftover chips and some waffles for breakfast the day after, then played some more Half-Life 2 and Minecraft.
tl;dr I had a fucking blast skipping school, and not one iota of me felt guilty for doing so.

So, what do you think? Is it okay, stupid, fine, bad, good?

once in a while would be fine but be prepared to face any consequences. the odd lesson or day won't hurt but skipping a few days every week is a bit much

You shouldn't skip school unless you have a good reason, like going to the doctor's or something. Education's pretty important and you'll kick yourself later for it, especially if you do it a lot and it's just because you don't like a teacher or something stupid.
Do it if you want but be prepared for consequences, now and later.

I've skipped school once, it was a useless "enrichment" subject that we had to do for 10 weeks and I went Christmas shopping with my mates instead. Turned out the teacher wasn't in and they just assumed I was there.

I found skipping a class here & there in highschool, and going to friends house to play SSB Melee were great memories. of course, we only did this a hand full of times, and never skipped the whole day. Did I miss some important stuff in the lectures? Yes, but was able to catch up because I only missed one thing a week at most.

You really do need to go to classes, but not going to them can be important too. Just make sure you never sacrifice, in entirety, one for the other.

The only time I don't go into school is the last week of the year when no work is getting done, or if I have to go to the doctors/dentist etc.

I find it better to do less work over 2days than no work one day then tonnes of work the next because I missed yesterdays work and yesterdays work was leading up to the work for today.

Well, to be honest, I very rarely skip school, this was the first time I've skipped a whole day instead of just the last lesson. :p

Sometimes, you just can't be bothered. And then you're not very likely to be too productive anyway. That's my personal philosophy at any rate.

The only time like that I can think of is a point back in year 1 wherein I played out being sick for a week (mostly because I had kind of a mean teacher, and there were bullies teasing me), aside from that I've never really had the temptation to skip school. I apologize if I come up short in this post as I can't really try to state an opinion without the experience to form one, I guess if it was towards the end of year and there were things going on inside school which were a problem for you then I guess that's not too bad but I stay on because usually I go out for lunch with friends after we slog it through the final assembly and liturgy for the year.

Ahhhhh, the joys of cutting class....... I used to do that when my teacher wouldn't come in for 9th period. If that prick couldn't bother to be there then neither could I. I also cut when I got bored or when my friends wanted to play brawl. It was mostly just Marine Biology though.

Never have skipped school before, wouldn't the school phone your parents or something?
Well, I might have sent an e-mail to the school saying I was sick the day I skipped. *Cough*

That is a very flawed system they have for calling in sick; practically anyone can do it, regardless of who, they just need to state who's sick and how they are sick.

Generally it's a very stupid idea. Unfortunately, I didn't learn this until it was too late, and really underperformed at high school.

Well, if you want to risk your conduct grade, I don't see much of a problem with skipping school.
It is sort of respectless towards the people who work all day to teach you stuff though; but then again, it is understandable to need a break once in a while.

I skipped school to do more productive things. Yes, there are more productive things than Geography and learning what we don't do with acids. As a result, I left public school and graduated early from a decent private one.

Everything they tell you is a lie to keep the tax revenue for the district going (at least this is how it works in the states) as they are paid by the headcount.
