snipers are generally pussies whom sit back and try to shoot people whom do not see them at that time, often due to a lack of ability to see at range without a sniper weapon.
I beg to differ. In most games, the map size makes sniping a dangerous task. Most of the time you're rushing to get the crosshairs on someone who is a) already shooting you b) sprinting around a corner at you, or c) doing the same exact thing

And I've found that it takes a considerable amount of skill to use a sniper rifle in close combat. So before you all spout nonsense about picking up a shotgun and fighting like a man, remember that at point blank range, spastic uncoordinated shotty lovers have a huge advantage over someone using an ACOG Barrett. You can flail about spewing lead everywhere, while they have a split second to line up a single shot, because that's all they have time for. lol

i wouldn't call that sniping, that's just running around with a high-powered, precise gun.
if you go around clearing rooms with the barret, it's foolish, but can be damn amusing.

Its fun to snipe every now and then, just as much as it is to charge in with an LMG screaming your tits off. If you seriously have a Hate on for snipers, try stepping back a bit and realising that in real life warfare snipers arent the best friend of the common infantry man, oh yeah and that it's a bloody game.

So you're a Knifer? I would love to play against you sometime, Kinfers make very lively and interesting enemies.
I too am a Knifer. And my goodness what fun. But I rather like LMGs too, so you won't always find me Knifing.

But OT. I invented something I like to call "Combat Sniping" a little while back on Metal Gear Online. Taking the sniper into situations where people would use the M4 and just winning. People that play the game are gonna call me a fag now "because the sniper only kills in 2 body shots" But I went for headshots so shut it.

It's something I found myself doing on MW2 occasionally, take the Intervention with ACOG scope into close combat, it is quite a laugh when you actually win.

But my point is, I generally dislike snipers. The campy kind, the ones that camp so hard they don't move all match, unless you kick them out of their spot, in which case they keep coming back and back and back because they need that spot so bad. Those kind I HATE. I mean, how much fun must they really be having?

Any sniper in Mw2 with a thermal pisses me off, especially if the game keeps spawning me in their sights.

Also, quick scopers can go fuck off and die.
cold blooded is hte ultimate perk

Single player, hell yes. Multi-player, only if you have to go and actually get the gun instead of just putting it into your loadout. Because if you can spawn with it, then roughly 1/3 of your team is sniping, doing it wrong, and not helping your team at all.

I love sniping. CoD4 I only would snipe unless the map was to small or I could be stealthy instead. Me and my R700 were ment to be together forever. Then MW2 came along and, in my opinion, ruined sniping forever.

Here is wht I hate about (MW2) snipers;
1. Quick scopes snipers,
2. Snipers that never kill in one hit even with stopping power although they should be used to take out tanks and decapitate people in real life.
3. Thermal
4. Range doesn't count on a game. Why take a sniper when you can shot just as far with a assault rifle of pistol for that matter. I've snipped with a magnum a few times myself.

Hmmm... I'm going back to CoD4 to do some sniping.

I dislike sniping, not because of the act itself, but because of the stereotypical mindset associated with it. Most (if not all) players I've met that tend toward sniping believe that to do so makes them a better or more valuable player. I disagree. Certainly, in the real world, it takes quite a lot of skill to be an effective sharpshooter, but that comparative skill level does not translate well to the medium of video games.

Sniping, if anything, require significantly less focus than other methods of game play on average. As a sniper, you are bound by the same need for awareness as the other players, but are no longer required to maintain aforementioned awareness while moving. You're free to sit back, on a hill or in a bush, and wait for your prey to walk into your line of fire. And, of course, your distance means you do not have to account for your opponent firing back at you.

I don't really mind sniping, the act, but I very much dislike snipers, the players.

I like to snipe now and then. I prefer long range - mid range combat. That's my comfort zone anyway.

I enjoy sniping every so often, its a nice thrill to line up that perfect shot, especially in the battlefield games. I often work as a sniper to support teammates in objective based modes, such as covering infantry moving in to capture or destroy an objective.

Lol, I try to avoid the "room clearing" scenario as much as possible and use it like an overpowered single-shot assault rifle. Any range except for point-blank I can usually take down my target with a single well aimed shot, as opposed to camping in one spot with a great view or running full tilt spraying shots everywhere.

Usually in games like MW2, I tend to stick to the assault rifles. However in Borderlands, my main class is the Hunter, so when I'm playing with friends online I break out the sniper rifles and watch Bandits heads go *pop*

I'm my squads designated sniper for Battlefield 2 and I love the excitement of a one-on-one sniper fight and having to use all of my patience and skill to land that one clean shot but I absolutely hate the "snipers" in Call of Duty. I think snipers, especially in smaller games, should be limited to slower firing, bolt-action weapons because then they have to actually be able to shoot straight on the first shot.

I've nothing against them and I even snipe myself sometimes, it can be quite fun. Although I'm more familiar with run and gun combat.

I can't snipe to save my life (literally). I never snipe unless I know that I'll get a few kills, otherwise I run and gun with a shotgun.

I'm a perfect target for snipers it seems sadly. I can handle most FPS obstacles, but snipers are a no-no.
And with using them nah i'm no good either, its like asking a 4 year old to explain quantem mechanics.
Sloppy, clumsy and any success is by pure luck alone.

Just a couple months ago I hated sniping, but recently it's become the only thing I enjoy doing, especially in BF:BC.

I like the whole 'lone wolf' aspect of it, and there are plenty of tense moments, such as when you're hiding in a bush as an enemy tank slowly advances, praying that you won't be discovered, or taking potshots at the entire enemy team as they advance on your gold crates.

Unlike the other classes, it's also quite a challenge, as you have to lead you're bullets, and it seems it'll be made harder in the sequel with the addition of bullet drop.

It's quite simply the most genuine fun I've had in a multiplayer game in a long time.

Personally, I prefer ambush tactics to sniping but, given an open range, I'll take sniping.
