preordered and awaiting release here ^^

i played the beta as a necromancer, but i always play that kind of class, so i'm going to try out the thief to start with. the fact that thief can be a viable range class appeals to me

To be fair I have been emailing back and forth with my bosses, so I haven't really had the energy time to look it up myself. I mean I knew I could sucker you into getting the info for me count on you.

Tarnished Coast is the unofficial RP server, if that sort of thing matters to you. I have no idea what the European equivalent is. If you're a Euro you'll have to find out for yourself, if you can take a break from afternoon kippers or playing cricket or whatever the hell it is you guys do over there.

List of the characters I will make in order and play at random.

1. Charr Guardian - because I really like the paladin without all the paladin.

2. Asura - Engineer or Necromancer not sure which yet.

3. Sylvari Ranger because it makes way too much sense

4 Human elementalist - because my original GW character was an elementalist.

For my primary i'm gonna go for a thief haven't decided on a race yet maybe asura for giggles or human my secondary i may roll an engi or ranger again no decision on race.

Though i may just change my mind and go ranger primary it was my profession of choice in GW.

There's a couple of bottlenecks in particular. I can't remember the names of the areas, but after the first hold you get to you end up repeating this one escort quest a number of times. The next lowest event is where the champion troll sometimes spawns (there's a bandit quest as well), and that's usually a fair bit higher level by the time you can get there. I've always ended up farming random Drakes in the river for 1-2 levels as there's nothing else to do. A bit later on there's the one town where you have to clear up the graffiti, and south of that is an event chain with centaurs taking various places; each time I've gone through that bit I've had to repeat that chain a few times before going further. Like I said, last time I went through the lot and ended up as level 12 in the swamp (I'd done most of the story quests too). Next after that would be Kessex Hills which is 15+. Just my experience, but in the Asura start zone there always seemed to be something level appropriate.
You need to explore more. You absolutely should not be stuck repeating any event, at any level. I certainly never had to.

I want to be a mesmer. Messing with minds, making clones of myself, it all sounds pretty boss.
The Mesmer is a pretty fun class. I don't even mean that as "fun to play as", but "fun to play against"!

One of my more memorable fights was against a mesmer. She was fighting 1v2 and losing, sure, but even though a Shortbow Ranger is pretty much the master of chasing, the chase took for a whole god damn minute after the Warrior had quit. For a good Mesmer, there are no dead ends or disadvantageous low ground, there are only new oppoturnities to confuse people. The teleports, the clones, the invisibility spells, they kept me one stp behind her for a long god damn time even though my build was mostly made of snares, cripples and stuns.

That session turned into a battle of wits, I only caught her because my River Drake was well-positioned enough for his lightning breath to deal full damage

Either a human Mesmer (Because his attacks with 2 handed sword look friggin awesome) or a Ranger, not sure what race tho. And now i'm pissed that i'm missing a few dollars in my bank account for a pre-purchase, i wonder if it's even possible to get access on 25th with only 4 days left until launch.

Charr Engineer.

Charr because I like their city, looks, and the fact they are going to be the least popular race, and I like underdogs (undercats?).

Engineer because explosions.

I wanted to be a guardian. It's nice to know I'm the minority in that, makes me feel special. I don't know what the races are like other than appearance but I liked Sylvari, might just stick to human for the Guardian it depends.

I intended to do a Human Guardian first but then I tried a Norn warrior in PvP and PvE... Fell in love with the Norn's lore and playstyle of the warrior (I'm always a warrior in every damn fantasy game, don't know why I still try anything else).

My alts probably gonna be a Human Elementalist, Charr Engineer, Sylvari Mesmer and maybe a human thief or necro. I don't like the look of the Asuras so I won't make one of them.

I'm surprised that Guardian is coming in dead last. My primary in GW1 was the Paragon, which is one of the ancestors of the class. For whatever reason I need to carry that banner.

I haven't really kept up on GW2. I watched some gameplay vids of the various classes many months ago so if I DID pick it up I'd go Elementalist hands down.

The only thing that interests me about GW 2 is that it is new, and looks better than Perfect World International which I've been playing since 2009. Well, talking to friends anyways because there is literally nothing left for me to do in that game that doesn't require throwing thousands of dollars at it. I don't consider "gearing up" by buying terribly OP gear from the cashshop to be an activity especially when I don't pvp.

When the people with that gear do a flat 60% more damage and take almost none, and most of them can become invisible (and therefore untargettable/invincible) repeatedly while critting you 5 times per second (i.e. double damage) while stunlocking you....the point is what exactly?

Grats on wasting 2Gs on gear that makes your already OP class even more OP. And on a PVE server to boot!

The other reason I'm eagerly awaiting GW2 is that many on PWI have stated flatout that they will be migrating there because PWI has been dying for a long time now. Best case, I get GW2 and still see my friends. Worst case, it takes a lot of the idiots and troll away from PWI. Sadly that will pretty much leave about 300 people.

I was expecting both the Guardian and Necromancer to be more popular, still, a pretty nice balance.
