Where do I stand? On the sidelines as a neutral observer. I'll only interfere should it become necessary.

Why does the word terrorism get thrown around so much regarding Anon?

Terrorism is to obtain your goals by terror, Anon inflict inconvenience, they bring out dirty secrets, no one is terrified.

I'm pretty sure the U.S. government started this whole terrorism=Anon thing just so the people would be scared of them and so not support them.

Na, that was Fox News with their whole "hackers on steroids" report. That's when 4chan, and in turn Anon really blew up in size.

Internet Hate Machine oh noes <youtube=0DoDLyx4OSY>

Good point, U.S. government; I apologise. Though they have continued the fine tradition of misinformation started by Fox.

99% of the guys outside of /b/ are actually cool dudes with relatively normal outlooks on life. Hell, even on the /tv/ board, they regularly run live streams of American TV (i'm European, so it's often impossible to watch it live from the US in any legit way), and it's pretty cool.

I really resent the image of 4chan being some super hard site for hackers and trolls. /b/ is for trolls, there is no hacking segment, and the rest of the site is just fine. Seriously.

I don't really like them. The only thing I really remember them doing that is any good is standing up against censorship with the wikileaks thing. I also remember then going around attacking peoples religion. The religion here being scientology. Which, no matter what you think about it, isn't cool to do to ANY religion.

Whole different issue there kid. I don't care what official standing they have, Scientology is a cult, and a dangerous one at that. Just as you have the right to speak for them, i have the same right to speak against them, and if some people want to protest against them, well they have that right as well.

I think unless we all give out are information we are all a part of Anonymous ;)
Well, and this is how it's been told to me, everyone is apart of Anonymous that wants to be. If there's there's something web related you feel is unjust, or if you hate Scientology that you want to have fixed you're part of Anon. Hell you don't have to hack. Anon members have done protests all over the world.

As for Anon it's self anon isn't really a group so much as it is a group of people with a common goal, the better the internet. Before I said I didn't agree with their methods and even now I'm not sure, but I support what they're trying to do.

So positive
What do you mean by "I'm part of it"? Is there like a "SIGN UP HERE TO BE PART OF ANONYMOUS" Or do you just deem youself one?
I'm a regular poster on 4chan,7chan,789chan,N0chan, and 420chan

I also sometimes participate in raids so I think I'm qualified to say that
Where do you hear about these raids? It sounds interesting.

Scientology isn't a religion, it's a dangerous and criminal cult. Bringing this to people's attention was the entire point of operation chanology.

i sort of see them as a neutral party leaning more towards freedom fighter side. they like to screw around with people for fun, but when someone tries to take away our freedoms they don't F around.

I support Anonymous, they are a result of a corrupt government which consorts with evil corporations and are funded by thieving banks.

I also find them to be highly hypocritical. How can you fight for the freedom to access information, when you're keeping information about yourself a secret?
Hi, my name is John Doe, I live at 123 made Up Street. I wish to take a stand online against corruption, abuse of power, and suppression of information and human rights. ...oh I've been arrested, well that was short-lived.

Knowing my name is information no-one needs to know. When a government breaks the law and tries to hide it, that's information everyone should know, it's not hypocritical at all.
What makes that information everyone needs to know, and who says people need to know it? And why exactly does everyone need to know it? And why is it ok to post someones name, social security number, address, and phone number on the internet simply because they don't like said person(Aaron Barr), while at the same time, not revealing who they are?

Because they're hypocrites.

I don't know enough about them to judge but some of the latest stuff I've heard about on here makes me like them.

It just seems cowardly to me for them to hide behind a veil.
Maybe but I get why they do it. It's kinda like the suprehero deal I suppose, if you hide behind a mask then people can't come after you directly, just the mask.

Anonymous is not a group. Not an organization. There's no structure. How can you have an opinion on a group that doesn't exist in the first place?

I'm surprised by the amount of people attempting to negate the value of an opinion based on the idea that "it is not a group" or "you can't have an opinion about things that don't meet X,Y, and Z parameters"... since when? You can have an opinion on anything - doesn't mean all opinions are intelligent or well-rounded or even more than laughable, but people can have an opinion about whatever.

They're the natural conclusion of the internet. I wouldn't say they're good or bad, but rather that they're a natural phenomenon, like lightning or urine.

As people, I'd say I'm in no position to judge, because I've laughed at things they've done that were just plain wrong. So yeah, I don't know.
