I like multiplayer and single player equally, but as yahtzee's noted - It's no excuse for weak single player.

For the most part no. MMO's can be alright, though I dislike PvP in them.

I play a lot of online multiplayer now because I don't have a lot of time for much else. Still, I vastly prefer single player and splitscreen multiplayer to online fights.

I can't do online multiplayer, ever. I'm kind of like Yahtzee on that perspective, with the whole "social etiquette" thing. I'll do split-screen and co-op but I almost NEVER do anything online.. It's just less fun...

It makes me almost miss the 90s.... Almost....

I like the challenge that comes from facing off against human opponents. I can kill waves of AI badguys, but give me a few real people, and it gets interesting. It is alot better when the MP is balanced out a bit, also...

Love them.

Adds replay value to the game and keeps things fun. Though if its crappy or I really suck at it then I tend to ignore it.

If I had to choose, I would always choose a game with 40-80 hours of singleplayer goodness over a multiplayer where I have to deal with people calling me derogetory words all the time, and I would have to hone my skills day and night to have any semblance of worth on a team.

As many have said I like Co-Op but not competitive multiplayer. Gaming should be about fun and too often competitive multiplayer becomes too personal either from the immature players or the need to win. Lets face it, if you are a gamer you play to win. That is the entire point of most games and that does not translate well to an area that always has a loser.

I tolerate people only in MMOs. Other mp is just... Too frustrating.

I love minecraft multiplayer. I also love other multiplayer games too! But single player in aa game REALLY influences whether i buy it or not.

Depends: Multiplayer with split screen, ho boy yes.
Co-op games like Left 4 dead or Killing floor, also great.
Team fortress 2, amazing.

Everything else I don't really care about at all.

Full online multiplayer i hate, but i absolutely love co-op multiplayer with friends (either in RTS just a multiplayer game against AI, or actually story coop, both are good

I enjoy co-op more than multiplayer, but AC:B's multiplayer was acutally damn fun. It's the only one I'll probably want to play a year from now.

I like it, it's just not where I spend most of my gaming time. I just find multiplayer gets repetitive really quickly. And this is from someone currently on his 4th Mass Effect 2 play through.

I love local MP in all forms - grouping up or taking on a friend is the most fun you can have while gaming.

Online multiplayer is a double edged sword - it DOES elongate a game's lifespan by a mile, however you do have to face issues like lag, hackers and douchebags on a daily basis (for most games, anyway, especially FPSes). I also hate, hate, HATE that online multiplayer is replacing local MP (sells more consoles and games...)

MMORPGs are also a bit of a double edged sword - while the social aspect of something like WoW can make a game feel like playing with friends (but not quite), the games tend to suffer losses to the 'RP' aspects, trying to make a game that will appeal to everyone.

Multiplayer is how gaming should be played, but I'm not sure we're going entirely in the right direction. The Internet is great and all (hi Escapist :D) but as we all know -

Are you kidding? Multiplayer is one of the best things ever! Ofcourse, you probably wont have an experience like the one with the Elder Scrolls games, but TF2 and WoW... Damn i love it. Beating your friends, and getting beat by their friends. It's beautiful!

I like multiplayer despite being atrocious at it. I, like many, get annoyed at irritating little kids with mics but that's nothing that can't be solved by the mute button.

Recently, I've found that I thoroughly enjoy the AC:B multiplayer aspect. It's different to most multiplayer games these days.

Online multiplayer ought to be icing on the cake of a good single-player experience. Something new to try after you're bored of going it alone. Not the other way around. That's how I've always felt.

(Unless, of course, multiplayer is the focus of the game, like L4D or an MMO)
