I have liked all the Spyro games... Sure, the originals were the best, but, the same thing could be said for almost EVERY SINGLE video game franchise.... (almost... so, don't rage there)
I heard a rumour, before Skylanders was announced, that the devs were trying to make a mature Spyro game for the older-generation who grew up with him, but it got canned quickly to make this kiddy-knock off...
Sure, it may be built around the gimmick of toys into game characters, but, eh, I was looking forward to the older-targeted Spyro games... Still, hard to sell a purple dragon to adults purely from "Hey, you played this as a child!?!!"

After Year of The Dragon Spyro died as many have already stated. They changed his look, voice and added modern Disney standard awful humour.
Yes it's aimed at children but to hell with that, if Spyro was what I knew then I'd still play it, they were my favourite games in the days with Playstion reigned supreme.

That is not the old friend i once knew. At least Crash sped off to the big old racetrack in the sky before they could do this to him.
Ok correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the appeal of Spyro that he was both cool and somewhat cute. That thing is neither.
...Looks like something out of Spore. That being said, I'm kinda intrigued by the game mechanics, I just wish they didn't have to shoehorn poor Spyro into it...
