The "Super Star Wars" series for the snes. Incredibly hard, but really good games.

Heh, I remember those. I only got to play the first one though. I think the main reason they're so hard is the lack of a save slot. You have to do it all in one sitting or else start over again. The farthest I've ever made was when you're inside the Death Star (I was playing as Han) and I got stuck at the boss at the end, some giant robot thing. After it killed me I was stuck with the lousy pistol, and after that the fight became basically impossible. Lots of temper tantrums and thrown controllers resulted from that game, but for some reason it never stopped being fun.

I went for Jedi Knight but I'd also toss in a ballot for the X-Wing/Tie series as well. Those were some great space sims back in the day.

I picked Republic Commando, but Battlefront and KotOR were both really close. Battlefront would have been on the top for me, but then I remembered all the screwups they made to the second one.

Has to be between Rogue Squadron and Battlefront. But i keep thinking about buying KOTOR 2 to see what that series is like.
If you havent played either game you should get the first one, it's just better.

KOTOR was fun in its way, but KOTOR 2 was just piss easy - the first game I played light-side first time through and was able to pretty much walk through anything with the shear amount of buffs I could throw around. For me most of the fun I've had in the SW universe was on my N64 in rouge squadron and pod racer. Just full of fast-paced balstery/racy goodness in a time when graphics were a secondary concern to most people.

Never did like the jedi knight series much, and when Academy turned out to be EXACTLY the same as the previous game (Outcast?) that I owned anyway I just lost all interest. Huh, thinking about it, for all that I like the SW universe, I've not really got into their games much. Perhaps because mods know their audience better than corporations do...

Being a Star Wars fan, I like all of the choices, but my two biggest choices are Rogue Squadron(Played it since I was six) and Galactic Battlegrounds. Both games were the building blocks of my gaming "career".

But SW:TFU hasn't even come out yet, so why is everyone pronouncing it "Dead-on-Arrival"?

KOTOR was everything I want in an RPG, plus some flaws that I found easy to ignore. The writing in this game should be the standard for every game ever ever ever.

I thought the demo was pretty terrible. Targeting system sucked horribly, DMM isn't used nearly as often as I was led to believe, and while it is only a demo the combat got repetitive very quickly for me.

You kids and your save slots... why, when I played Star Wars on my NES, we died from touching ANY monster and we had exactly three continues! And another thing... *rambles on*
Agreed though, that game was bloody hard. I don't think I ever beat it.

Frankly, I had the exact opposite experience with the demo. It just made me want the game more.

KOTOR, definitely. But there are some other great ones - Republic Commando, Battlefront, and X-Wing/TIE Fighter back in the day. And there's a pretty good one not among the choices - Rebel Assault I & II. They were just rail shooters, but they were fun.

I think The Force Unleashed looks awesome (although I'll admit I haven't played the demo). In fact, I'm getting it at a midnight release tonight! I can't wait.

I voted Battlefront series. I love Pandemic (but why couldn't they play Mercenaries 2 atleast once before releasing?? Why!?!?) and I usually don't play many Star Wars games, those are the only two I really played thoroughly. And they're like the Battlefield series, which I also love. Win-win. Except for Mercenaries 2. Why, god, why??

Fool! You missed out SW: Trilogy Arcade!

The amount of cash I threw into that machine at the arcades, hehe.
Oh my how I loved that game, was at Alton towers (theme park in uk) and was too scared to go on a certain roller-coaster so spent hours on that game. Ran out of money as I was flying down the trench on the first death star. 8(

But the star wars game that I will forever love would defiantly be the X-wing series. The sheer intensity of some of those missions was awesome. For example, when you had to defend the medical frigate "Redemption" from a relentless imperial attack.
If anyone here has played the game and remembers this mission then I'm sure you will see why I think of it as one of my favorite video game memories.

If anyone here has not played these game then I strongly suggest you do. X-wing Alliance may be a good place to start, that game can still look quite pretty.

you guy's are forgetting the best star wars incarnation ever, star wars battle chess. (j/k)

I liked KOTOR but I could have lived without the 3 hours of walking around without force powers or a lightsaber in the first one(if they make a third one I hope they take a hint and just let you have the stupid lightsaber from the beginning).

KoToR is an epic, amazing game. The only problem I have with it is that, take the Star wars name off the box and there is very little to associate it with the Star Wars universe, it's not really connected to any canon so I can't have my fanboy nerd moments. I realise the game centres around Jedi/Sith war but really they could be any generic light/dark factions.
I hate to say it but I think you're just uninformed on this point. There have been a huge amount of star wars novels, comic books and grand descriptions of almost every conceivable aspect of the star wars universe. Knights of the Old Republic was extremely cannon based, itself just highlighting a particular part of Star Wars jedi/mandalorian history.
