I had the same problem, You've got to focus on a specific point preferably the center of the image. If you don't mind me asking, do either of you have aspergers?
The reason the one on the wiki doesn't work is because you're eye is probably following the flickering dots rather than focusing on the cross in the center.

Huh. I have asperger's and I actually had that problem. Rules like that are usually bullshit.

Granted, I doubt aspies would be the only ones to subconsciously focus on the movement, but that's still a little unsettling.

Wait. Tried it again. It worked, but instead of creating a cross, the pink dots were replaced by one continuosly moving green dot. Weird.

For those of you having trouble with the first image, you have to hold your eyes very, very still for it to work. Look at one tiny spot and don't move your eyes at all.

Huh... I really didn't remember seeing any optical illusions like this so tried it...

There was another trick my physics teacher shown me ages ago. There was a spin top with black and white circles on and when it spinned it was green (MY GOD). cant find a video of it though
