Oh Christ, not this again.

Guns frighten me a little in real life, but in games, fiction, fantasy, etc, they can be bloody awesome. Shotguns are 'badass'.

Swords I like too, though I'm more fussy about them. Zweihänders, for instance, I think are beautiful, but I find katanas boring.

.. tl;dr, I love'em both.

Now, in an actual fight, guns would win. Sorry, but as much as I love swords, and as skillful as they can be, honestly. One good shot, long range, and you're gone. One could argue on 'it depends on who goes first'.. but I can't be bothered.
Actually, a gun is faster at close range too, so it doesn't really matter ^^

that's not much of a choice the whole reason humans beet out cromagyuins(SP) was because of projectile weapons (a spear in that case) a sword might be romanticized but for those who don't have 20+ hours a week to devote to training or happen to out of shape or old the firearm is the way to go.

I have one question to ask you... What the hell are cromagyuins?

I say screw both swords and guns. I'd personally prefer a knife, or better yet a hidden blade lol. Far away Guns win every time. Close up it's close though... but if i had to choose between a knife and a sword and had to be up against somebody with a sword, id go for the knife. It's a lot quicker, much more efficient, easier to disarm your opponent, just as lethal.Just think Assassin's Creed lol. If your in a situation where it must be concealed, it would be pretty easy. Plus if you were decent to a degree in engineering, you could make it to where the blade could shoot out of a switchblade by simply flipping a switch. Only problem would be putting the blade back in lol.

That depends, am I watching the fight or in it.

If I'm watching then swords, more entertaining.

If I'm in the fight, guns. I'm weak and would probably want to end it quick.

I have the ultimate argument for swords versus guns, ammo. Let's see how tough your precious gun is when you're all out of bullets

Firstly, goes against why I would choose a sword. Secondly, that is no sword sir, that is a glorified bayonette

a variety of cavemen i have no idea how to spell the name. I know they are named after the town in France where they where discovered. the relevance to the discussion at hand is they didn't develop thrown spears and had to get very close to kill game and often got hurt in the process.

i prefer a blade,guns are dishonorable and don't offer a fair fight
I respectfully disagree some one who is elderly or frail is at a severe disadvantage in a sword fight however in a gun fight that same person would be on equal terms with a 250 pound linebacker.

And what is a bayonet? around the turn of the century the answer became "a sword or knife that can attach to a gun" sorry for the double post
