I really have a problem with Twilight, how can I hate a movie/book so much, when I've never even seen/read it?

How the hell do I know that Edward Cullen is hundred whatever year vampire, who sparkles, who embarks on an empty and embarrassing relationship with a Mary Sue character with no...well, character?

I shouldn't know these things, and they shouldn't trouble me, but somehow they're everywhere, and not because of the fanbase.

People complain about Twilight so much that its a part of our pop-culture now, anti-Twilight has fans.

This isn't normal, or at least, healthy behaviour. When we see something crappy on TV, we change the channel. If we don't like the game we're playing, refund/exchange it. Great.

So how come we're stuck with this dead, post-Harry Potter tweenage nonsense, when most of us (I presume) have never seen the film OR read the books.

Okay, after that rant, I'm suggesting an all-out ban on mentioning anything Twilight-related. There are plenty of critical reviews for people who like it, and don't understand those that don't, and a hell of a lot of people who should never of heard about it, know in advance that they'll hate it. So, lets just keep silent on it. Good idea?

(PS - I'm aware that setting up a topic about not mentioning Twilight is mentioning Twilight, but lets just hope this paradox runs rampant and swallows everything Twilight related into a vortex and we'll live in a 2010 without it.)

I never really hate anything or have a serious problem with anything that comes out in the entertainement sector (movies, Books, Games, etc, etc).

I simply look at it decide if I like it or not, form my choice, make the choice and move on.

I agree that twilight is terrible and it is unbelievingly non-deservingly loved but I don't really have a problem with it.

Make a drinking game out of it, have a beer every time someone mentions Twilight. You'll be drunk from now till whenever it stops being relevant. That's what I've been doing with Harry Potter *hic*

People ***** about twilight because they have no real problems and don't know anything about any real issues. I feel like obsessive twilight haters are more numerous than obsessive twilight fans.

I went with the burn option, but I'm malicious. :D

I have the same problem: I have never read the books, never seen the films, and will NEVER subject myself to such trash. But why the crikey-f#$* do I know that Twilight "vampires" actually glitter in the sunlight? Why do I know there is a "Team Jacob" and "Team Edward" feud? Why do I, an innocent young man who just wants to use the internet and turn on the television when I lift weights have this crap shoved down my throat? Why can't I do my manly things in the comfort of my own home without being exposed to this vapid propaganda for submissive, lovestruck tweens? This is not evil. This is sick. Just. Plain. Sick.

Hence why I just try to pretend it never exists.

I've been thinking the same thing for a long long time OP, things will eventually disappear if we just ignore them...or at least we won't have to think about it anymore.

kill ones self...because if twilight fans are indicative of humanity then all is lost...*specially the one fan that actually believed the wolf man was a rip off of the wolves in twilight*

Heh, quite true. Much like racism in American culture, pretty much the only reason it's still alive is because we incessantly hate on it.

Anti-twilighters are about a hundred times more annoying than twilight-fans. It's ridiculous. Just go fuck yourselves, people.

Something I don't like? Fuck that, there's no way I can exist in the same universe! Destroy it!

Sarcasm over, it does get annoying to hear people go on about it, but it's also pretty easy to ignore. Maybe I'm just lucky though, no one I know likes it.

Thank you. You'd think this is obvious but hatedoms have grown in number lately. And it's never over something that deserves it because it's cool and edgy to hate something that other people like.

What should anti-Twilight fans do about Twilight?
Shut the fuck up about it and get on with their lives.

I've come up with a rule for myself:

"If you haven't seen/read/played it, then don't criticise or praise it."

That means I'm not going to bash Halo, Modern Warfare 2, Twilight, or any other thing I've not seen all the way through. And if I have watched something all the way through, then I'm just going to ignore it, not post hate topics on the internet.
